⚛️🔬 That’s a wrap on the SFB BeyondC Conference 2026!

🙌 After an inspiring week at the Universität Wien, Frontiers of Quantum Information Science 2.0 comes to an end today.

🏆 On the final day, the scientific program continued before our group leader Philip Walther presented the Best Poster Award and led the Closing Ceremony. Afterwards, participants had the opportunity to join lab tours at the Faculty of Physics.

👏 A big thank you to all speakers, participants and everyone involved in making this week possible.

⚛️🔬 Another successful day at the SFB BeyondC Conference 2026!

ℹ️ Today’s program features talks by Ian Walmsley, Dietrich Leibfried, Christine Silberhorn, Roberta Zambrini and Leonardo DiCarlo, exploring different areas of quantum information science.

💡 The SFB BeyondC Women’s Lunch, Poster Flash Talks and an extended Poster Session provide plenty of opportunities for exchange and new connections within the community.

🌟 The day concludes with a public talk by John Martinis from UC Santa Barbara: “From Prehistoric Quantum Bits to a Quantum Computer”.

⚛️🔬 The SFB BeyondC Conference 2026 is in full swing!

🏛️ Yesterday’s program concluded with our Conference Dinner at Vienna City Hall, including welcoming remarks by Sara do A. T. da Costa of the City Council.

🎙️ Today, the scientific program continues with talks by Jian-Wei Pan, Mikhail Lukin, Eleni Diamanti, our group leader Philip Walther, Jörg Schmiedmayer and Terry Rudolph.

💡 And there is more to our conference than the lecture hall: this evening, young scientists will come together for the "Everything You Never Studied For" Pub Quiz, providing an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas beyond the scientific sessions.

⚛️🔬 Day 2 of the SFB BeyondC
Conference 2026

✨ Today's program brings together another exciting line-up of speakers, including Vladan Vuletic, Immanuel Bloch, Verònica Ahufinger Breto, Abhinav Kandala, Peter Zoller and Antonio Acin, covering different perspectives and developments across quantum information science.

🤝 Beyond the talks, there is plenty of time for scientific exchange, discussions and new connections - before Day 2 comes to a close with the Conference Dinner at the Vienna City Hall.

⚛️🔬 The SFB BeyondC Conference 2026 has officially begun!

🌟 This week, the Frontiers of Quantum Information Science 2.0 conference brings together leading experimental and theoretical researchers in quantum information science at the University of Vienna.

💡 Over the coming days, participants can look forward to invited talks, scientific discussions, poster sessions and satellite events.

🤝 We are excited to welcome researchers from around the world to Vienna and look forward to an inspiring week of science, exchange and new connections!

☃️🎙️ This was the SFB BeyondC Winter Workshop 2026!

🏔️ The workshop took place at the International Conference on Quantum Optics, which was held at the University Centre Obergurgl in Tyrol, Austria, from 22 to 28 February. Since 1984 this conference regularly brings together leading scientists and young researchers to present their latest results and meet for discussions.

🏆 In addition to lectures, lively discussions and outdoor activities, the special research programme BeyondC awarded the "Best Poster Award" to Isobel Bicket, a postdoctoral researcher in Philipp Haslinger's group at TU Wien. Isobel received the prize money of 300 euros for her outstanding work, "Experimental Observation of Electron-Photon Entanglement".
