WGA is proud to be supporting CBH Group’s rail and train loading infrastructure upgrades at the Brookton receival site, located 135km southeast of Perth.

The existing over-rail out loading facility comprised four 500t over-rail bins and the expansion works will include two additional 5000t V-bottom silos, a high-powered bucket elevator with a tower and bunker, and a replacement elevated over-silo conveyor system to facilitate grain in-loading of 750t/hour.

As lead engineers, WGA is providing civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, controls and instrumentation engineering services from concept design through to construction.

The upgrade will expand permanent storage capacity, improve out-loading efficiency and reduce train turnaround times across the Brookton facility.

Earlier this month, WGA’s Civil (Traffic) team stepped out in style for the annual VPELA gala ✨

With this year’s Winter World theme, the team was frosted with joy at the opportunity to hit pause on the day-to-day and connect with the wider planning, legal, and environmental sectors. A great night of networking with some really cool company! ❄️

Lighting the way for success!

We're taking a look back at the Comets Football Club lighting and civil upgrade project 👀

With water pooling and poor field drainage, player safety and facility usage were being significantly impacted. WGA came on board to provide civil, electrical and geotechnical expertise where we advised on reshaping site levels, improving subsurface pitch drainage, and enhancing spectator areas by resolving water pooling at key locations, upgrading surfaces around the clubrooms and regrading the practice area to drain to the swale.

Our team also assessed electrical capacity and delivered a stunning new lighting layout with designed reticulation, controls and future‑ready conduits.

The result delivered safer, more resilient and enjoyable facilities. The integrated civil and lighting upgrades strengthen the club’s ability to train, compete and grow—enhancing community connection and the overall sporting experience.

Proud to see our showing up where it matters most!

Recently, members of the WGA team volunteered at the Adelaide Gala Dinner, helping support an incredibly meaningful cause.

From guest registrations to raffles, auctions and everything in between, their support helped the event run smoothly while contributing to fundraising efforts that create educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from regional and remote communities.

We’re proud to see our team giving back and supporting organisations in our communities.💙

Our national Admin Lead team gathered in Melbourne this week for a workshop focused on people leadership. The sessions went beyond process and productivity, diving into the real work of leadership: having clear, courageous conversations, setting ownership and boundaries, and creating space for people to do their best work.

Administration is the invisible glue of WGA, and our Admin Leads connect teams, enable others and strengthen culture across the business. We're excited to see the impact this learning will continue to have across WGA.

Nothing beats seeing a project come to life on site!🦺

Our SA Buildings team recently visited the Crown and Anchor development to check out construction progress.

The development includes a 29-storey student accommodation tower, while preserving the Crown and Anchor Hotel, bringing together new infrastructure and local heritage.

WGA is providing civil and structural engineering services for the project, supporting its delivery from design through to construction.

With the core walls rising to Level 12 and slabs poured up to Level 8, it’s exciting to see the tower taking shape above ground and our team out in the field—big thanks to for having us on site.

Where Introductions Spark Conversation- Meet Russell Perry

As the Ports and Industrial Lead, Russell is WGA's go‑to subject-matter expert across everything ports and resources. 🚢🏗️

Russell spent the past six years helping grow WGA’s Brisbane office as the Joint Regional Manager in Queensland. More recently, he has taken on new adventures back in NZ, and oversees WGA’s Ports, Industrial and Resources market across New Zealand and the East Coast of Australia.

Born and raised in Aotearoa New Zealand, Russell has travelled the globe extensively for work—from Australia, the Netherlands, Finland, China and the Middle East.

Of Ngāti Mahuta / Ngāti Maniapoto descent, Russell maintains close ties to his rohe in Kāwhia, South Waikato.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find him cheering on the King Country and Waikato rugby teams, volunteering his time coaching touch football or at Point Lookout Surf Lifesaving Club at Stradbroke/Minjerribah Island in Southeast Queensland. 🏉

Creating space for conversations that matter 💬

Our recent Women of WGA (WoW) Networking Event in Brisbane brought together honest conversations, shared experiences and valuable perspectives on leadership, inclusion and supporting women in the workplace.

It was great to see so many people engaging openly and contributing to such an important discussion that helps shape the future of our workplace.

A big thank you to our panellists Nathan Silby, Vicky Lewington and Karina Collins, and to Jo O’Brien for leading the conversation 👏
