WGA is proud to be contributing engineering expertise to ' Berth 6 Extension at the Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal.⁠
⁠
This significant infrastructure project will enable the simultaneous berthing of two large vessels, supporting the continued growth of South Australia's container trade.⁠
⁠
We were engaged to deliver the engineering design for the 135m quay-line extension, including the retaining wall system, anchoring works, mooring infrastructure and associated civil works.⁠
⁠
Designed for a 100-year service life, the project will help future-proof South Australia's key maritime infrastructure for generations to come.⁠
⁠

Our Brisbane team was proud to attend the Brisbane Gala Dinner earlier this month, celebrating the achievements of young Indigenous Australians.⁠

It was a special evening hearing inspiring stories from students and alumni, highlighting the lasting impact of education, mentorship and community support from Yalari's scholarships and support programs.⁠

It’s Safety Week! 💛

While safety is part of how we work every day, this week gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on something a little more personal: why do we choose to work safely?

So we caught up with our people across all our offices, who regularly work on active construction sites, busy roads and around heavy machinery, and asked them one simple question: What motivates you to work safely?

For some, it’s family. For others, it’s friends, teammates or a furry face waiting at home. 🐾

Whatever the answer, the purpose is shared: to look after ourselves and each other, and make sure we all get home safely to the people and moments that matter most.

This Safety Week, take a moment to think about your ‘why’, share it with those around you, and keep the conversation going.

To celebrate the year, our NZ team escaped to Hawke’s Bay on the country's North Island for a relaxing getaway! ⁠
⁠
Joining forces with this year, the event kicked off with a chance to connect with LDE’s Napier office team before settling into a charming country house in the middle of an orchard. Surrounded by stunning ranges and farm animals, the team spent the afternoon reflecting on the year, discussing strategy and enjoying a friendly game of croquet on the lawn.⁠
⁠
The adventure continued the following morning with an early start and a unique team-building experience: four and a half hours of 4WD training through rugged hills and river terrain. 🚙⁠
⁠
The training equipped team members with essential off-road driving skills, helping ensure they can safely operate vehicles in the remote and challenging environments they encounter through their work.⁠
⁠
A perfect balance of rest and adventure, the trip was a fantastic way to celebrate the year and strengthen relationships across the team.

A milestone worth celebrating for the Yampu Infrastructure Upgrade project! ⚓⁠
⁠
WGA, recently joined project partners and industry representatives to welcome Yampu, the new vessel now servicing the route between Port Adelaide and Klein Point.⁠
⁠
The world-first battery-powered self-unloading bulk carrier marks an exciting step towards more sustainable maritime operations in South Australia, while continuing the long-standing movement of limestone from Klein Point to Adelaide.⁠
⁠
Our team is involved in designing upgrades to the existing berth infrastructure to accommodate the new, larger vessel for AdBri to ship limestone from the AdBri quarry at Klein Point to the cement plant at Birkenhead. WGA's design services included new steelwork berthing and mooring dolphins at both sites, along with new walkways and mooring infrastructure.⁠

Congratulations to Adbri, and , and everyone involved in reaching this significant milestone. It’s fantastic to see Yampu now operating in South Australia!⁠

It’s World Maritime Day! 🌊 So, what better time to meet some of the people behind our Maritime projects?⁠

At WGA, our Maritime team works across everything from jetties, wharves and dolphins to coastal assessments, asset inspections and complex waterfront infrastructure.⁠
⁠
And when it comes to a day in their life? No two look quite the same. One day might mean inspecting an ageing wharf, the next designing new infrastructure, solving a tricky site constraint or diving into coastal data.⁠

When Introductions Spark Conversations! Meet Alastair Oliver⁠
⁠
Based in Adelaide, Alastair is a Senior Structural and Maritime Engineer with over a decade of experience and serves as the Ports and Marine Market Lead in South Australia. ⁠
⁠
Driven from a young age by a fascination for structures, he found his curiosity evolving into a passion for maritime engineering, where he now specialises in the design of several different coastal structures. ⁠
⁠
He is particularly known for his expertise in the assessment, maintenance and remediation of timber jetty assets, helping clients extend asset life and maximise the performance of critical marine infrastructure. ⁠
⁠⁠
Outside of engineering, Alastair is a hockey pro! Since making his premier-level debut at just 15, he has enjoyed a successful career on the field, winning multiple premierships along the way.

On Friday night, our team came together for the NAWIC SA 2026 Excellence Awards to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women across South Australia’s construction industry.⁠

We were thrilled to see two of our own recognised on the night:⁠

🏆 Kathryn Keen, our Group Administration Manager, was awarded the Business Professional Award, recognising her leadership, commitment to business improvement, and the positive impact she has on our people.⁠

🌟 Nikki Brown, our Senior Document Controller, was nominated for the Emerging Leader Award, recognising her impact as an emerging leader and technical champion across WGA’s projects and Document Control team.⁠
