From aspiring apprentice to qualified HV Electrician.
When Nia joined CPP in 2023, she was starting her career in the trades and becoming CPP Victoria’s first female apprentice along the way.

Almost four years later, she’s completed her Certificate III in Electrotechnology through CPP’s Dave Evans Apprenticeship Program and built the skills, confidence and experience to take on what’s next.

Her advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship?

“Give it a go and be willing to learn.”

Nia’s story is a reminder that you don’t have to have it all figured out before you start. With the right support, a willingness to learn and the confidence to step outside your comfort zone, an apprenticeship can be the start of something much bigger.

Waratah Super Battery reaches final commercial operations
Congratulations to Akaysha Energy and the whole project team on reaching final commercial operations at the Waratah Super Battery, one of the world’s most powerful battery energy storage systems.

Consolidated Power Projects Australia (CPP) was proud to be one of the delivery partners helping bring this landmark project to life. It’s a project that brought together more than 1,000 people across design and construction and attracted over $1 billion in private investment.

Built on the site of the former Munmorah coal-fired power station in NSW, Waratah delivers 850 MW of power and 1,680 MWh of storage. It acts as a shock absorber for the grid, helping the network respond quickly to disturbances and supporting more renewable energy across the transmission system.

Projects like this show what’s possible when great teams work together to strengthen the grid and enable the energy transition.

For one CPP crew, 'like father, like son' isn't just a saying.
Wade has spent nearly 20 years in the industry, the last four and a half with Consolidated Power Projects. Before joining CPP, his son Tarkyn was working a series of other jobs — until Wade mentioned that CPP's Transmission Lines division was growing and taking on apprentices.

Wade didn't push. "It's here, it's up to you," was all he said — then helped Tarkyn put his résumé together and stepped back to let him apply on his own.

Two and a half years later, Tarkyn is a lineworker apprentice in that same division, and the two often work side by side — Wade passing on what he's learned, Tarkyn earning his own reputation on site.

"You're not just watching him develop as an apprentice," Wade says. "You're watching him develop as a man."

It's a good reminder of what we're really building alongside the infrastructure — careers, mentorship, and connections that last.

To mark this special occasion, our teams hosted celebrations at offices all over Australia. It's our incredible people — past and present — who have not only built infrastructure, but shaped CPP into the trusted brand and reputation we're proud of today.

30 years ago, CPP started as a small South Australian business. Today, we're a national contractor with over 850 people and offices in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. We've contributed to some of the biggest energy infrastructure projects in the country.

We want to thank everyone who has contributed to CPP's success, and to our clients for their trust in us to deliver their critical projects. Here's to the next chapter — we can't wait to see what we achieve together.

“While I was in hospital, I decided to break the world record.”

Ten months ago, CPP employee Chris Fyvie was in hospital undergoing emergency heart surgery.

Today, he’s a Guinness World Record holder — completing the fastest marathon by someone with a subcutaneous defibrillator. 🏃‍♂️🏆

But this achievement is about more than a world record.

Chris is also using his incredible journey to raise vital funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the organisation that provided the life-saving emergency care he needed.

Chris had been experiencing a serious abnormal heart rhythm that can lead to cardiac arrest. Following his transfer by the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia to hospital, he underwent emergency surgery and had an implantable defibrillator fitted to help manage his condition.

His recovery meant five months away from work and a lifelong commitment to medication and managing his health.

Ten months later, he’s crossed the finish line at the Sydney Marathon with a world record to his name.

What a comeback. What a story. What an incredible achievement. 👏
