ElectraNet has identified a new corridor for further investigation for the Northern Transmission Project, following community feedback.

We have heard from people in the Mid North during a comprehensive community engagement process.

The community’s feedback has directly influenced the focus of our investigations, which is further east of the original corridor options. It’s important to note that this does not represent a final decision and the project remains subject to further investigation, engagement and assessment.

This corridor investigation is another import step following the release of the Project Assessment Draft Report, which found that Northern Transmission Project delivers up to $640 million in net market benefits for South Australia.

NTx’s Project Assessment Draft Report shows it will deliver up to $640 million in net market benefits for SA.

With interest to connect to South Australia’s transmission network at its highest level in decades, the State is on the cusp of a once-in-a-generation growth and jobs opportunity.

Northern Transmission Project (NTx) is a proposed new transmission line from Greater Adelaide to the Mid North and then to Whyalla, which will create jobs and other benefits within local communities, as well as facilitating economic activity while future-proofing South Australia’s electricity infrastructure for decades.

ElectraNet plans to undertake proactive insulator pollution maintenance work on the transmission network on the Yorke Peninsula late on Saturday 21 February and early Sunday 22 February 2026, which will impact electricity supply in the region.

This maintenance will affect households and businesses across the Yorke Peninsula which are expected to be without power between 11:30 pm on Saturday night and 5:30 am Sunday morning.

Disrupting the electricity supply is not something which we take lightly, but accelerated build up of dust and salt, known as insulator pollution, has been detected on transmission assets in the region. This scheduled maintenance aims to reduce the risk of unplanned transmission outages in the future.
