Happy New Year evreryone! We released a computer vision and geomodel update v.2.28 today with 114,277 taxa compared to 112,613 taxa in the last model and is trained off data exported on December 28, 2025. This model is the result of millions of observations and identifications shared on iNaturalist....

The "Vic Fazio III Moth Marathon" is back on again for another year, starting on Friday, 16th January, 2026. Vic Fazio was one of the titans of Australian moths on iNaturalist and every year we remember him through this event. Over a 10 day period (January 16, 2026 - January 25, 2026) we encourage you all to go out, put up a moth sheet and explore your backyard or local park for these amazing creatures. Photograph and upload your observations to this project.

This is the fourth year of running the moth project in memory of Victor Fazio III. Starting on Friday, 16th January, 2026 we will start exploring this biodiverse group with a ten day marathon.
