This month The Airconditioning People entered its 30th year and I want to to thank our tens of thousands of customers for having the confidence in us to aircondition their homes and businesses, thank you for referring us to family and friends.
We are both amazed and grateful for the countless customers who have rememberd us and re engaged us multiple times, thank you.

For us it's not about the sale its about meeting expectations which is old fashioned these days but important to us, my dad George who would have turned 100 this year gave me these values and they have rubbed off onto my buisiness partner and son Clayton who has made me proud in the way he approaches jobs and customers, in the near future will be telling me what to do.

And to my original business partner John Ball who retired some years back I thank you buddy you are like a brother and a special friend and you always made going to work fun.

Kevin.

Just a reminder for everyone with evaporative cooling its cold outside, close your ceiling vents, yes you probably have a weatherseal preventing the cold draughts coming into your home HOWEVER this doesn't seal completely and you will have anywhere 25 to 60 metres of large ducting in your roof space swallowing up your heat, do yourself a favour close them you will reduce your heating bill by a fair bit.

Another air b&b with the same client this time at Cockatoo Valley, this home is HUGE I think it sleeps 14 or 16 a huge kitchen and a massive dining table, you can sit on the front porch cook on the barbecue and watch the kangaroos and other wildlife gathering on the lawn. Its styled tastefully and the renovations are first class please check it out.

This was our first paid job at Trinity College sometime in the 1990s at that time it was the south campus head office, currently we are removing the evaporative units and installing inverter reverse cycle heating and cooling, over the last 4 or five years the four campus's have converted from evaporative to inverter heating and cooling for the students comfort.
I said first paid job because our association with trinity college started with our donating two evaporative systems I think in 1994 and 1995.
We respect the college's confidence in our company and appreciate our long standing association.

Further to my post about keeping your filters clean, this photo shows the coil of a ducted reverse cycle air conditioner that we pulled out and replaced recently, its clogged reducing air flow and efficiency substantially to the point where the owner unknowingly flogged their air conditioner to death. Replacement cost of $8,500.

Its worth while inspecting and washing your filters regularly !

These days with small blocks finding a suitable location for the outdoor condenser is getting harder, when selecting a position for it consider the following,

1/ the air discharged by the fan or fans should not recycle, that is it should not bounce off a fence or wall and be drawn back into the unit ( recycled air) this will decrease efficiency or possibly cause the air conditioner to protect itself by shutting down to prevent it from breaking down.

2/ servicing, select a position where a service technician can access the unit safely and easily, see where we located the units in the photo's, if the technician was to slip he or she can't fall off of the roof.
Also if the unit is put in an elevated position expect to pay more for service labor, you could be expected to pay towards warranty service because two technicians may be needed instead of one. One technician will stay on the ladder or roof and a second goes back and forth to the service vehicle and if the outside temperature is high they may refuse to go onto a roof where the heat is reflected. (occupational health and safety)

3/ Noise, these days inverter air conditioners are considered quiet compared to past air conditioners however when its hot and they work hard they buzz which possibly won't be much of a problem in the evenings after sunset.

4/ consider a position where a crane might not be required to locate it.

5/ Compromise, you don't want the outdoor unit to be positioned in your outdoor entertaining area do you (I haven't met anyone who does) so consider the above and you will most likely have to compromise as often an ideal position doesn't exist.
