What should children learn in a world where artificial intelligence can calculate, categorise, write and code?

Technical skills still matter enormously. But they are only part of the answer.

Our latest ARCSA article explores three deeply human capacities that may become even more valuable as AI advances:

• Intuition• Imagination• Emotion

In our classrooms, a robot that behaves unexpectedly is not simply a failed experiment. It becomes an opportunity to notice something unusual, form a hypothesis and imagine a different solution.

A student who asks an unexpected question is not wandering away from the lesson. They may be seeing something everyone else has missed.

And the excitement, frustration and pride students experience while building something are not distractions from learning. They are part of what makes learning meaningful and memorable.

At ARCSA, we teach robotics, coding and AI, but we also want students to remain curious, imaginative and confident in their own judgement.

The future will need people who understand technology. It will also need people who can see beyond its patterns.

Will AI take our jobs?

A better question might be: which human skills will become more valuable as AI improves?

Artificial intelligence will increasingly handle routine, repeatable and clearly defined tasks. But that does not mean the end of human work. It means that the skills employers value are beginning to change.

In our latest ARCSA article, we explore six skill areas that are likely to matter more in an AI-rich world:

Did you know your child can start our Robotics Course at any time during the term?

You don’t have to wait until Week 1 of the next school term to join.

Our beginner Robotics Course uses a project-based learning approach and is based on the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Academy curriculum.

Rather than having every student complete the same lesson at the same time, students work through a structured program of approximately 100 robotics activities, challenges and missions at their own pace. The complete program usually takes around one year to complete.

So, if your child joins us in Week 4, they haven’t “missed” the first three weeks. They simply start with the introductory activities and continue progressing from there.

We use South Australian school terms primarily for enrolment and booking purposes. The learning itself is continuous. We don’t restart the Robotics Course from the beginning every term.

Start when you’re ready. Learn at your own pace. Continue from where you left off.
