🔋 Australia’s New “Cheaper Home Batteries” Rebate — What It Means
To make battery storage more affordable for homeowners and small businesses, the Australian Government launched the Cheaper Home Batteries Program on 1 July 2025. This program provides about 30% discount on eligible small-scale battery systems (5 kWh to 100 kWh nominal, rebate applies to first 50 kWh usable).
Key points:
The rebate is applied at the point of sale / via installer, so you don’t need to apply separately.
Your battery / inverter must be on the CEC-approved list and installed by accredited installers.
The discount is based on the battery’s usable capacity. The more usable capacity (within the eligible range), the greater the savings.
The rebate will gradually decrease over time through to 2030, so acting earlier maximises the benefit.
