Natural gas has been part of everyday Aussie life for decades - heating our homes, cooking our meals and providing toasty hot showers. It’s dependable, it’s fast, and it just works. At Australian Gas Networks (AGN), we look after the pipelines that keep gas flowing safely to more than 1.4 million homes and businesses. But we’re not just about today, we’re also working on tomorrow’s energy. As part of Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG), in South Australia and Queensland, we’re already blending 10% (by volume) renewable hydrogen into our networks in Tonsley (Adelaide) and Gladstone (Queensland). And in 2026, Hydrogen Park Murray Valley will open. As one of Australia’s largest hydrogen plants, it will focus on supporting industrial decarbonisation by utilising AGIG’s existing gas networks and a certificate-based system. Our vision is to deliver infrastructure essential to a sustainable energy future. We’re excited to bring households, businesses and communities along on this journey with us.

Big team effort this week at FareShare

Our Melbourne crew helped prepare 3,315 meals through the Meals for the Mob program, supporting First Nations communities.

A great way to come together and take action during Reconciliation Week.

This video, from the Fuel for Thought series, shows how everyday waste - from food scraps to farm waste and even wastewater - can be turned into biomethane, a renewable gas. A fascinating watch.

If you're curious about biomethane this is an easy, helpful explainer of how renewable gas fits into a more sustainable energy future.

One of the simplest ways to stay on top of winter energy costs is to keep an eye on your usage as the season changes.

Checking your retailer online portal, comparing previous bills, or using the Energy Made Easy website (see link below) can help you spot changes early and understand what’s driving them.

Why we volunteer. ❤️

Through our Community Partnerships Program, AGN supports not-for-profit organisations with funding and staff time - because backing the communities we work in matters to us.

Our people have 2 days of paid Volunteer Leave each year - they can volunteer with a charity of their choice, or jump into opportunities we organise with our community partners.

And the best bit? Volunteering brings so much back: purpose, perspective, team bonding, and those genuine wellbeing boosts that come from doing something for others. We’re seeing more and more people get involved every year - and some even take the next step and keep volunteering in their own time.

If you’re even thinking about it… do it. 🙌
