Before RAA's people walked into 150 Grenfell Street, our team was laying the groundwork behind the walls.

As part of Built Environs' redevelopment of this Adelaide landmark into the city's first Carbon Neutral certified office, we delivered the structural carpentry that timber doors and hardware, compliant fire doors throughout, wet area accessories, structural wall framing, and wall linings and substrate.

All hands on deck in the CBD at St Aloysius Catholic Girls College, installing tongue and groove hardwood flooring on the central staircase for their new vertical primary school. The Blackbutt timber (Australian hardwood) with its straight grain and high durability will be robust and long-lasting in this heavy-use space, retaining its beautiful finish for years to come.

The scope also included second fix fire door installation, wet area fixtures, and feature sliding doors.

Under the guidance of site supervisor Michael, this project showcased our team's capability when it comes to creating feature timber-work, which demands the highest quality finish on display.

A new health precinct taking shape in the Adelaide Hills.

At the Mt Barker Health Hub, Sakar is delivering the first fix carpentry package, structural timber framing across a 1,500sqm purpose-built medical facility. It's a project built for a growing region, positioned at the heart of Mount Barker's town centre.

Our scope covers large scale roof trusses, conventional roof framing, cranage and structural framing.

When RAA made the move from Mile End to its new home at 150 Grenfell Street, it wasn't just relocating an office, it was bringing the state's largest member organisation into the heart of the city.

Architects Mark Berlangieri and Emma Dodson of Walter Brooke, put natural timber at the centre of their vision for the build. American oak and walnut, floor-to-ceiling glass, rooms that capture and radiate light.

Our job was to make that vision real. Sakar Constructions was engaged by our long-time build partner's Schiavello to deliver the solid timber package for the fit-out. Every partition, window and feature door was fabricated in our Somerton Park workshop and installed by our team.

Natural timber with a finish like this doesn't get painted over. What's on show now, to every South Australian who walks in, is the work itself. For decades to come.

There's a lot more to this story, and we'll be sharing more over the coming months.

With three kids under 5 and a growing team, Darius has his hands full. But that never stops him from having a laugh, a swing of golf, or coffee with our team, clients, or anyone who wants to really, thatโ€™s just the kind of guy he is.

Anyone who knows Darius knows that the Sakar you see today all started with a guy and his tools, just doing solid work. The company is a bit bigger now, but the man at the centre of it all is the same. (Just with a few more grey hairs, but thatโ€™s probably more from having to deal with us every day, rather than age!)
