🎼Our PBT Jamboree

This month we tackled the maintenance of our translocation site and captured pygmy bluetongues across all the lineages and generations that reside here (except a few stubborn individuals) 🌟

With a fleet of helpful volunteers the pygmy team were able to fix up the fencing that separates different lineages, do some much needed whipper snipping, identify active lizard burrows and catch as many lizards as possible 🦎

Each caught lizard had measurements taken for morphemetrics data and body condition before being promptly returned home 🏠

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who helped out for the PBT Jamboree ⭐️ It was a lot of fun and incredibly productive!

Congratulations to all our students who just presented their final research 🥳🎉

Rumi Kotani (Honours), Case Case (Honours), and Nat Wallace (Masters) all did a fantastic job sharing their different projects on the pygmy bluetongue 🦎️

It's an exciting time in our lab watching these students take another big step towards their careers as scientists and we're proud of their achievements ✨️

We are excited to announce our very own Dr Gerrut Norval is guest editor for a special issue of “Animals”; The Ecology of Ticks and their Ecological Roles. This Special Issue of Animals is dedicated to advancing our knowledge of the ecology of comparatively neglected ticks, specifically those that primarily or exclusively parasitize wildlife. It will also address the necessity of ticks by considering the ecological functions of ticks, both directly through their own biological activities and indirectly through the pathogens they transmit. More details and submission dates in the PDF attached to our website linked below!
