Bioluminescent live cell imaging makes it possible. Using light emitted from a naturally catalysed chemical reaction, this technique allows direct visualisation of protein dynamics in living cells, no repeated sample excitation needed.

NanoLuc® Luciferase reporters are designed for exactly this. Extremely bright, with exposure times reduced to just a few seconds. Small enough in size to avoid perturbing the normal biology or functionality of the fusion partner.
