The votes are in… meet Terracotta!

It’s official — the newest member of the Mangoesmapping fleet has a name! A huge thank you to everyone who submitted ideas, voted and helped us name our ute. We loved seeing the creativity come through. 👏

You’ll soon see Terracotta out and about supporting the Mangoesmapping team across surveying, UAV LiDAR, GIS, GNSS workflows, training and field projects. 🛰️📍

RTK training in action with Cloncurry Shire Council 😄 🟠

This week, Mangoesmapping delivered onsite Emlid RTK training in Cloncurry, working with trainees including Prasanna Mudalige, Engineer at Cloncurry Shire Council.

Across three days, the group moved from theory through to practical field application, covering:

- Establishing an RTK base over a benchmark
- Using NTRIP and radio-based RTK corrections
- Survey accessory use and maintenance
- Real-world asset data capture
- Field workflows for accurate RTK surveying

On day two, Alistair and the trainees headed to Kajjabi, a small community on the banks of the Leichardt River, north-west of Cloncurry, where the team surveyed water network assets as part of their applied learning.

By day three, each trainee had the opportunity to revise their base station skills and head back into the field to collect real-world data with Alistair providing gentle, hands-off support — helping build confidence, repetition and RTK survey muscle memory.

This is what practical geospatial training is all about: giving teams the knowledge, confidence and field experience to apply technology properly in their own working environments.

Field update from the Mangoesmapping team 🟠


This week, Ugurtan Akyurek — Geospatial Scientist / Remote Pilot — and Danielle Britton — Technical Specialist — conducted a UAV LiDAR survey to produce a digital terrain model (DTM) for a client project.

With the nearest permanent survey mark located approximately 3 km from the site, the team used Emlid Caster to transmit real-time corrections between the base station and rover during the ground control survey.

This workflow supports accurate control, efficient field capture and reliable terrain modelling, turning site conditions into practical deliverables for planning, design and decision-making.

From UAV LiDAR and ground control through to DTM generation and geospatial deliverables, Mangoesmapping provides practical survey solutions for complex field environments.
