Concrete doesn’t fail in the pour.
It fails in the process.

That’s why before anything hits the ground, it gets taught.

We were invited to deliver a prestart/toolbox session with the BMD team on the Mickleham Rd Upgrade, focused on the correct application of Re-Poly 100% recycled macro synthetic fibre-reinforced concrete (MSFRC) for the shared user path.

Because with materials like this, performance comes down to understanding.

BMD’s approach to knowledge sharing and implementation is exactly how projects should be delivered.
Clear roles.
Clear process.
No guesswork on site.

Re-Poly MSFRC is already being used across footpaths, pavements and shared user paths because it delivers a more efficient, more sustainable alternative to traditional reinforcement.

But like any system, it needs to be applied correctly.
That’s where the difference is made.

On-site education ensures:
Correct placement and finishing
Consistent performance across the slab
No shortcuts that compromise long-term durability

Re-Poly fibres are made from 100 percent recycled plastic, replacing traditional steel mesh in non-structural applications like SUPs and footpaths.

The result is a simpler, safer and more efficient approach on site.

Crack control built into the mix
No steel mesh required
Faster, safer installs

This project is the first major MRPV job to use Re-Poly across 8400m² of shared user path.
And the impact goes beyond construction.

59.06 tonnes of CO₂ reduced
5 tonnes of plastic diverted from landfill
185 hours of NDIS-supported employment created

This is what happens when the right product is backed by the right process.

Better outcomes for the project
Stronger results for the community
Real progress toward more sustainable infrastructure

This isn’t theory.
It’s already being delivered on site.

Footpaths are one of the most used assets in any council network…

Yet many still fail early under everyday conditions like shrinkage, traffic loads and weather exposure.

That’s not just a material issue
It’s a reinforcement choice

There’s a smarter solution already being delivered across municipal infrastructure.

Re-Poly RF47 macro synthetic fibre reinforced concrete combines traditional concrete with 100 percent recycled fibres to improve durability, safety and long term performance in footpaths, pavements and shared user paths.

- No steel reinforcement means no risk of corrosion or concrete cancer

- Higher flexural strength to handle movement and loading

-Improved resistance to early age cracking

-Stronger, more reliable concrete performance across council assets

Crack control is where RF47 stands out, fibres are evenly distributed through the mix, not just placed in one layer like mesh.

This helps maintain structural integrity across the full slab, reduces surface cracking and limits trip hazards in pedestrian areas.

Sustainability is built into the system, eliminates the need for steel reinforcement, lowering embodied carbon in concrete construction.

Manufactured from recycled materials, supporting circular economy outcomes in Australia.

Packaging supports NDIS employment, delivering real social impact alongside environmental benefits, from a delivery perspective, RF47 simplifies the entire process.

- No mesh handling, cutting or tying on site

- Faster placement and finishing for civil construction crews.

-Reduced labour requirements across council projects

-More efficient pours with fewer delays

Over the lifecycle of the asset, lower maintenance requirements for councils, reduced repair costs across footpath networks, longer lasting infrastructure with more predictable performance

Traditional steel mesh adds cost, labour and long term risk, Re-Poly RF47 removes steel, improves durability and supports sustainable construction outcomes.

It’s already being used across Australian council and municipal infrastructure projects

Better performance for councils
Safer outcomes for communities
Lower environmental impact
That’s where modern municipal construction is heading

Delivered on site. Built for real outcomes.

On the Mickleham Road Upgrade, Re-Poly RF47 macro synthetic fibre was used as a steel mesh alternative in concrete reinforcement for over 8,400m² of shared user paths.

With growing adoption of macro synthetic fibre reinforced concrete (MSFRC) in footpaths and SUP applications, correct installation remains critical to achieving a high-quality finish. Through on-site prestart and toolbox sessions with BMD, the focus was on ensuring teams understood best practice application, placement and finishing techniques.

The result is concrete infrastructure that performs as intended while supporting more efficient construction on site.
By replacing traditional steel mesh reinforcement with Re-Poly RF47, the project delivered measurable environmental and social outcomes:

• 59.06 tonnes reduction in CO2 emissions
• Equivalent to removing 12.84 cars from the road annually
• 5 tonnes of recycled plastic diverted from landfill
• 185 hours of NDIS-supported employment through local packaging

Manufactured in Australia from 100 percent recycled plastic, Re-Poly RF47 supports sustainable concrete construction while maintaining the performance required for municipal infrastructure.

Backed by Danbar’s on-site support, engineering guidance and implementation training, it ensures new technologies are applied correctly from day one.

For councils and contractors, this is concrete reinforcement designed for performance, sustainability and long-term outcomes.

Built for real infrastructure

Across Australia RePoly RF47 fibre reinforced concrete is delivering a new generation of reinforcement for the municipal infrastructure communities rely on every day.

Manufactured in Australia from 100 percent recycled plastic, RePoly RF47 is a macro synthetic fibre concrete reinforcement designed to replace traditional steel mesh in many non structural applications including footpaths shared user paths pavements and local council infrastructure.

By distributing fibres throughout the concrete mix RePoly RF47 provides effective crack control while eliminating the corrosion risks associated with steel reinforcement.

For construction crews this means simpler installation faster pours and safer working conditions by removing the need to transport cut and position heavy steel mesh on site.

For councils and asset owners it delivers durable infrastructure with lower maintenance exposure over time while helping divert plastic waste from landfill into practical construction outcomes.

The result is smarter concrete reinforcement that performs in the real world supporting sustainable municipal construction stronger paths and infrastructure built for everyday community use.
