Are you ready for the EPA's new PFAS monitoring requirements?
The NSW EPA's PFAS Monitoring Chemical Control Order is now in effect, requiring licensed landfills and sewage treatment plants to undertake routine PFAS monitoring and reporting.
What many operators don't realise is that obtaining an accurate PFAS result starts long before the sample reaches the laboratory. Common items such as sunscreen, personal care products, waterproof clothing, and even some sampling containers can introduce PFAS contamination into samples.
Amongst many other potential sources, these everyday items can affect results if strict sampling controls are not followed.
With PFAS assessed at extremely low concentrations, avoiding cross-contamination is critical to ensuring confidence in the data and avoiding unnecessary follow-up investigations.
