Our Bankstown location is now closed, and lubricant collections can now be facilitated through our new Rosehill address.

✈️ Tarmac Tuesday Spotlight ✈️

Today we’re featuring a true classic of aviation history – the Cessna L-19/O-1 Bird Dog.

Originally designed as a liaison and observation aircraft for the U.S. Army and Air Force, the Bird Dog first flew in 1949 and served extensively during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Known for its rugged reliability and excellent short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities, it was a vital asset for artillery spotting, reconnaissance, and even rescue missions.

This particular aircraft, proudly wearing its historic U.S. Air Force markings, is a reminder of the incredible engineering and versatility that shaped military aviation in the mid-20th century.

And of course, it’s getting the best care on the ground with Skyfuel’s refueling services, ensuring every flight starts with quality fuel and safety first.

🛫 Wingman Wednesday is here! Each week, we celebrate the people who keep Skyfuel moving. Today, meet Val, one of our dedicated drivers who brings experience, passion, and a sense of adventure to the team.

🚛 Val’s career prior to driving trucks included working for the Victorian Police, before taking the leap into transport as an owner-driver with his own truck. His journey eventually led him to Skyfuel, where he’s become an integral part of our operations.

🔥 In just the past few weeks, Val has been refuelling helicopters for the RFS and supporting emergency services during critical times. Working with Skyfuel has given him the opportunity to travel across Australia, explore incredible places, and contribute to the community in a truly unique way.

🌏 Outside of work, he’s passionate about the gym, enjoys playing tennis and soccer, and loves the outdoors, caravanning and 4WD adventures.

👋 If you see Val (On the left below) out on the road or at an airport, give him a wave and welcome him to the Aviation industry as a new member of the team.

🛫 Tarmac Tuesday is here with this beaut!

Every Tuesday, we bring you closer to the tarmac, where aircraft meet asphalt, through images captured by our crew or friends of Skyfuel.

This week’s feature takes us to our refuelling facility in Coonamble, where this striking Navy trainer aircraft stopped in for a top-up of Avgas. Facilities like these keep regional aviation moving and ensure pilots have the fuel they need, wherever their mission takes them.

🛫 Wingman Wednesday is here! Each week, we’re introducing the people who keep Skyfuel moving. Today, meet James Edwards, our Compliance Maintenance & Project Manager, a true expert in aviation fuel systems.
🔧 James joined Skyfuel in 2025, bringing with him a wealth of experience: 17 years in Transport and Distribution, followed by 12.5 years in aviation maintenance. During that time, he managed compliance, maintenance, and project upgrades at over 200 locations across Australia, from small aerodromes to major airports. His deep knowledge of fuel installations and refuelling vehicles ensures every project is delivered safely and to the highest standard.
🏕️ Outside of work, James loves fishing, camping, and tackling epic 4WD adventures, he’s conquered the Simpson Desert and Cape York! He’s also a proud family man with a wonderful wife and daughter.
🏀 A former NBL1 basketball player, James competed at a high level for eight years and still loves the game. He’s coached over the years and has an impressive collection of American basketball jerseys.
⛳ These days, James has swapped the court for the course—he’s a keen golfer, a member of a Brisbane club, and regularly takes trips across Australia and overseas to play.
