It was a crazy time leading up to Christmas and the New Year so I thought I would post up some of the highlights of the mad season.
This nice Stessco came in for some serious upgrades.
Electric motor mount and modification to the bow and rail. Full 24v system for the Minn Kota with 2 lithium batteries mounted on a custom frame to keep them up off the deck.
Second battery with new isolator and panel to get it all up out of the way.
Custom tipper and winch setup for the crays with welded in rod holders and winch reinforcement.
And lastly a nice T top to keep some of the rays off and offer some additional rod storage.

Full tipper and winch package on this lovely Haines Signature. These are a bit tricky due to the shape of gunnels. The rod holders are full custom hand made polished stainless steel that wrap around the gunnel for extra strength. They also have a 2 degree slant to compensate for the slope of gunnels towards the rear of the boat. This ensures that the tipper sits perpendicular to the water. I'm yet to see anyone else go to these lengths to make the system as good as it can possibly be.

Is it necessary to go to this extra effort.......not really. Does it add to the personal touch of the job...... absolutely.

Rear shade top for a 30ft Boston Whaler and a tipper and winch package while we were at it. Shade top uses billet clamps...

Rear shade top for a 30ft Boston Whaler and a tipper and winch package while we were at it. Shade top uses billet clamps to attach to the existing hard top frame and is linished to match.
Most of these US fishing boats have a two piece gunnel that is only held together with some sika and screws. I make custom rod holders to bind the two pieces together and spread the load. It's the little things that make the difference.

Well it's been a long time since an update here but you know what they say, better late than never.
This was the last job before Christmas, hardtop support frame on a 21 Tidal Flare. I followed Nick's progress on the development of these boats with great interest so it was awesome to get to work on one. A few challenges were encountered but the end result was worth it.
