🌉 Lorne Swing Bridge – Final Part 🌊

The final result of the iconic Lorne Swing Bridge project.

After being designed, fabricated, trial assembled, powder coated, transported, and installed by the team at Metfab, the bridge was completed and opened for use.

These photos showcase the finished structure in its permanent home in Lorne, providing a strong and durable connection for the local community and visitors to enjoy for years to come.

From in-house CAD detailing and fabrication through to onsite installation, this was a project proudly completed from start to finish by the Metfab team.

🌉 Lorne Swing Bridge – Part 2 🚛🏗️🌊

Part 2 of the iconic Lorne Swing Bridge project - taking the bridge from the workshop floor to its final home in Lorne.

After the bridge had been fully fabricated and trial assembled in-house at Metfab during Part 1, the entire structure was carefully dismantled and prepared for finishing before being sent away for powder coating. Once coated, every section was transported down to Lorne ready for onsite assembly and installation.

With a project of this size and complexity, a huge amount of planning went into the transport and installation process. Each section had to be carefully unloaded, staged, aligned, and reassembled along the riverbank before final welding and crane lifts could take place.

Using cranes and onsite welding, the bridge was progressively assembled section by section right on the beachfront. Because the entire structure had already been fully checked and trial fitted in our workshop beforehand, the installation process onsite ran smoothly with all sections lining up exactly as planned 👌

These photos capture the onsite side of the project - from unloading and staging the bridge sections, to crane lifts, onsite welding, alignment work, and final assembly before the bridge was lifted into position to replace the original swing bridge.

A massive effort by everyone involved and a project we’re still proud to look back on years later.

🌉 Lorne Swing Bridge – Part 1 🔧🏗️

A look back at the fabrication stage of the iconic Lorne Swing Bridge project - all proudly completed by our team at Metfab.

This project involved the complete replacement of the old swing bridge in Lorne with the structure that still stands there today. Every section of the bridge was designed, fabricated, and fully trial assembled in-house at our Bayswater factory before it ever left the workshop.

Using in-house CAD detailing and fabrication, the bridge was built in sections and carefully fitted together on the factory floor to ensure every connection, alignment, and weld preparation was spot on before transport. With a project of this size and complexity, trial assembly was a critical part of the process to make sure installation onsite would run smoothly and efficiently.

Once the full bridge had been trial assembled and checked in-house, it was carefully dismantled and prepared for finishing before heading off for powder coating. After coating, each section was loaded for transport and sent down to Lorne ready for onsite assembly, welding, and final installation.

These photos show just a small part of the amount of planning, fabrication, and precision that went into the build before the bridge even made it to site 👌

Custom Corten Landscape Feature + Stainless Handrails 🔥

This project featured custom rolled 6mm Corten steel edging with a welded top cap for a clean and durable finish, along with custom fabricated stainless steel handrails to suit the space perfectly.

Everything was fabricated in house and professionally installed on site by our team from start to finish.

⚙️ METFAB | ANZAC PROJECT ⚙️

With Anzac Day coming up, we thought we’d look back at a special project we completed last year. 🌺
