Attention rural land owners in the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla regions 🗣️
Were you an unfortunate victim of the devastating 2019/2020 fires…?

Did you have fire clean up works carried out and are now left with unsightly and dangerous burn piles that didn’t burn properly and won’t burn again because they’re full of dirt, and now are riddled with vermin and weeds…?
This is extremely common and you are not alone, and best of all we can help 😎

The pics below are of a clients property that was burnt out in the Yankees Gap fire, as is clearly visible they were left with many burn piles that weren’t built properly and didn’t burn, then they were left with these horrible messes scattered all over their beautiful property.

We were able to help clean up this mess and while doing so clear wattle regrowth that was out of control since the fires.

So why do we still prefer to stack and burn when undertaking hazard reduction clearing work…?
Well because simply mulching wattle and scrub doesn’t remove it completely leaving behind roots that regrow almost immediately!
This means you need to either use harsh sprays or continuously slash the regrowth.

How we do hazard reduction clearing is removing the entire tree… stump, roots, the lot! And by building proper burn piles without loads of dirt in them the pile burns away killing the seed and preventing regrowth.

We also fill in all stump holes and compact the disturbed soil to prevent erosion 👨🏼‍🌾😃

Also fire permits are being issued already in the Bega Valley thanks to the favourable weather conditions!! 😅

…. And BOOM 💥 just like that another outstanding farm dam done and dusted…!!! 👁️👁️

This beautiful medium sized dam was constructed on a lovely RU1 small holdings property at the base of the amazingly picturesque Wadbilliga mountain range in the Yowrie Valley.

Same as last time this was a greenfield site meaning it was completely untouched when we undertook the build… 😎

Firstly we did an initial consultation with the customer, discussing options and probable/possible outcomes, then we raised a detailed quote outlining all expenses, scope of work, estimated timeline and including important expenses like machine transport 🚛💨

Next we completed a site survey where we pegged the dam and spillway. It’s important to note we place great emphasis on catchment area at this point and customise the spillway and “freeboard” (amount of wall above water level). This is a common mistake that less experienced contractors regularly make.

Then we stripped the site of topsoil, excavated the keyway until we exposed the artesian water source, (shut that seep off forcing water back into the dam), then constructed the wall from impervious material, compacted and conditioned in layers until the wall was constructed, finally we cut the spillway into virgin material and re-soiled the entire site 🥵

But wait for it, the best part… it’s already filling with ground water not run-off 💧and even better than that… the project was completed UNDER BUDGET! Meaning we only charged the customer what the job cost not what was quoted 😱😮‍💨

G’day friends and followers… check out our latest completed project… a large farm dam constructed on a beautiful property at the base of Brown Mountain!

This dam was completed using one single machine, our 25T Hitachi excavator! 😎

Water depth is around 5 meters, with wall height above existing ground level approximately 3.5 and depth of keyway at it’s deepest was approximately 6.5 meters making the modified material from keyway floor to top of crest around 10 meters!!! 😲

As you will see the dam was built in exceptional clay and is also making water as we exposed the porous sand seam which runs beautiful, clear, heavily mineralised ground water. 💦💦

Prior to construction no surveying or testing was required as we used our extensive knowledge and experience to accurately estimate how the dam would be built and what the final product would be… 👨‍🎓
