What’s hiding behind your cladding matters. Highwood HighFlow Cavity Batten system explained.
You might not see it once the job is finished, but the cavity behind your external cladding plays a huge role in how your home manages moisture, condensation and ventilation.
The system creates a ventilated and drained cavity behind the cladding, allowing moisture to escape and air to move through the wall system. This helps reduce the risk of moisture build-up, mould and timber deterioration, while also helping the building envelope dry properly.
We live and build in the Bellingen Valley and it's a damp environment. Our climate means moisture management needs to be considered from the beginning of the build.
A wall that can breathe, drain and dry is a better-performing wall, so while a cavity batten might not be the most exciting thing you see during a build… it’s one of the details that can make a big difference to the building’s long-term performance.
