The annual awards hosted by the Minerals Council of Australia celebrate and empower women in Victorian mining and provide a platform to encourage more women into the mining industry.

Our recognition in the Excellence in Company Programs and Performance category was awarded for our annual Women's Rescue Training Week program which reflects our commitment to building a stronger, safer and more inclusive emergency response industry.

The ISH24 Women’s Rescue Training Week was created to address the ongoing underrepresentation of women in operational rescue and emergency response roles. Delivered annually since 2019, the program provides five days of immersive, nationally accredited rescue training focused on vertical and confined space rescue disciplines.

The program is designed to build technical capability, confidence, leadership readiness and long-term peer networks in a supportive environment tailored specifically for women working in, or aspiring to enter, emergency response and rescue industries.

Thank you to everyone who has applied for and participated in this training, shared their experiences, and helped make this initiative such a meaningful part of our industry. We look forward to continuing to grow the annual Women's Rescue Training Week and support the next generation of female emergency responders.

We recently had the Ronin Rescue team delivering their Lead the Rescuer leadership course at our facilities in Bendigo, Victoria— bringing world-class rope rescue expertise all the way from Canada into a challenging, hands-on environment here in Australia.

This course went far beyond technical skills. The focus was on real leadership under pressure, critical decision-making, and developing the mindset shift from team member to effective rescuer in high-stakes situations. Participants were pushed outside their comfort zones, tested in realistic scenarios, and rose to the challenge.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and committed fully to the experience — the energy, effort, and willingness to learn made the course what it was.

And a special thanks to Ronin Rescue for sharing their expertise, high standards, and real-world operational insight with Emergency Service members from across Australia.

This was an intense, successful, and highly rewarding session, and a big step forward in building capability, confidence, and leadership in complex rescue environments. Really excited for participiants to bring this new insight to their operations on site.
