While much of our work happens on site, some of our biggest investments happen behind the scenes.

The past few months have been about more than delivering projects. They've been about strengthening the future of ACE.

Heading into the new financial year, we've been focused on:

• Investing in our people by putting team members through Do***ng and Basic Rigging training
• Rolling out custom-integrated digital systems across HR, payroll, project management and RFID asset tracking to improve efficiency across the business
• Expanding our onsite capabilities through new container-based workshop setups for valve testing and overhauls, heat treatment, and onsite machining
• Importing specialised machining equipment from the USA to further strengthen our service offering

Every investment we make is about delivering better outcomes for our clients and giving our team the tools they need to succeed.

We're excited to see these investments come to life on upcoming projects.

With the boiler overhaul at Queensland Alumina Limited now entering its final stages, it's a great time to recognise the effort of everyone involved.

Working across day and night shift, our crews have helped deliver the shutdown safely and on schedule, with zero incidents or injuries, while meeting all project milestones and targets.

BBQs, Funky Friday conversation starter shirts, welcoming new team members, and a few laughs along the way have helped make this another memorable project.

We look forward to carrying this same energy, teamwork, and positive culture into the next shutdown!

Do you even Funky Friday? 😎

Our gun crew is not only kicking goals on the outage at Queensland Alumina Limited, they’re also bringing the energy, team spirit, and plenty of personality while doing it. The funky shirts are out, morale is high, and the culture speaks for itself.

We’re seriously grateful for the initiative this crew has shown by jumping in and creating this tradition. The TradeMutt shirts are more than just a laugh on a Friday - they help raise awareness around mental health and remind us all to look after our mates on and off the job.

Proud is an understatement. We’re lucky to have a crew that works hard, supports each other, and brings this kind of energy to the job day in, day out.

Investing in people isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we put into action.

Mo has been a valued part of our team for years, consistently showing dedication and a strong work ethic across every project he’s been a part of.

Recently, he took the next step in his career: completing our internal upskilling program with one of our Certified Welding Supervisors to develop his capabilities as a Pressure Welder.

Here are some of Mo’s recent tube welds on the water wall of a boiler: clean, precise work that reflects the standard we're committed to on site.

Seeing his effort matched with real progression is exactly what we aim for. When people bring the right attitude and drive, we back it with the training and support to help them move forward.

Meet Ahliya, one of our Trade Assistants, currently supporting the team on a boiler shutdown at Queensland Alumina Limited 👷‍♀️

New to heavy industry, Ahliya made the move from working in hospitality, driven by a desire to break into the industry and build a new career path.

What’s surprised her most? “Everyone is so kind and helpful,” she says.

Ahliya has quickly found her stride, especially enjoying the problem-solving side of the role. Each day brings new challenges, and she’s embracing the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop her skills in a fast-paced shutdown environment.

When asked about her experience working at ACE, Ahliya shared: “It’s great! Everyone has treated me with respect and provided the support I need starting green in the industry. They’ve been really helpful in showing me everything that needs to be done in a safe, professional manner.”

We’re proud to have you on board, Ahliya, and excited to see where this journey takes you!

Last week, we officially commenced our boiler shutdown at Queensland Alumina Limited.

We’d like to recognise the dedication of our pre-shutdown team and the team members at QAL, whose collaboration and preparation were key to a strong start. The focus, coordination, and positive energy across all crews have set a solid foundation for the work ahead.

To wrap up the week, the team came together for a BBQ ahead of a well-earned break for Easter.

Now we're back to it and looking forward to continuing the momentum with a clear focus on a safe and successful shutdown.

Under the instruction of James Burt, Cert 10 AS1796 Welding Supervisor, a select group of our promising boilermakers completed targeted upskilling in tube welding using mirrors, left and right hands, feeding through prep and working on real-life parts.

They welded across a variety of materials including carbon steel, high-temperature alloys and stainless steels, and now have the competency and confidence required to work on pressure parts.

The goal was to strengthen both individual capability and our overall delivery performance.

Investing in our people is how we build long-term capability in heavy industry.
