For our tesla powerwall customers:

As the region braces for potential grid outages due to Cyclone Alfred, residents may experience grid outages. This guide outlines essential best practices for staying prepared and supporting customers during extended disruptions.

We have already communicated this information to customers in the affected area. However, if needed, the following key talking points may be used.

When a power outage occurs, Powerwall disconnects from the grid and begins providing backup power to keep appliances running without interruption.

Storm Watch was enabled on 5 March 2025, to ensure customers were prepared with optimal backup in the event of an outage.

Best Practices to Extend the Backup Duration
If a power outage is expected to last an extended period, following a few best practices can help extend backup power. These include:
Reducing the usage of high energy-consuming appliances such as air conditioners, washers, dryers, pool pumps, and induction cooktops, as well as minimising charging your EV.
All Powerwall switches and circuit breakers should remain in the ‘On’ position. If turned off for an extended time, Powerwall will not resume operation until grid power returns.
If they lose internet or mobile connection, they can continue to monitor their system’s power flow and charge level via their Tesla app.
