Many people assume a shade sail is a simple piece of fabric stretched between a few points. In reality, a properly engineered shade sail system requires careful planning and strong structural support to ensure safety, durability, and long-term performance

• Steel posts concreted into the ground are the most common solution. These posts often require deep concrete footings to withstand the significant tension forces created by the sail.
• Reinforced wall or roof attachment points can also be used where suitable structures already exist. These attachment points must be professionally assessed to ensure they can safely handle the loads generated by the sail.

- Understanding Wind Loads -
Unlike many structures that primarily carry weight downwards, shade sails create forces that pull upwards and outwards on their fixing points.
