Landfill leachate is the water that accumulates at the bottom of landfill - it doesn't sound good, and quite frankly doesn't smell good either.

The most significant challenge is that as landfill breaks down, rainwater picks up the various toxins that are released, meaning landfill leachate often carries significant PFAS contamination across our environment.
