Applications are now open for our 2027 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program at Kogan Creek Power Station, which is located near Chinchilla in the Western Downs.

We have three roles available:

These opportunities provide the chance to kick-start a career in the energy industry, gaining hands-on experience and earning while you’re learning alongside experienced professionals at one of the most efficient and technically advanced power stations in Australia.

CS Energy has successfully achieved all nine of its Electricity Maintenance Guarantee FY2026 targets across personal safety, process safety, maintenance investment, and plant performance.

CS Energy Acting Chief Executive Officer Tony Bellas said the result demonstrated a significant turnaround in CS Energy’s performance over the past 12 months.

“This outcome reflects a sustained effort across our power stations to improve our operational discipline, risk management and the maturity of our safety systems,” Mr Bellas said.

“The Electricity Maintenance Guarantee has given us investment certainty to deliver on our five-year asset management plan to keep our power stations operating safely and reliably.

“CS Energy completed two major overhauls of the Callide C Power Station generating units in FY2026, delivering both on schedule and within budget.

“Our generation fleet delivered excellent availability during the peak summer demand period and our year-on-year plant availability improved.

“Most importantly, we did this safely, with no significant injuries and no significant process safety events.

“Thank you to our employees for your teamwork, professionalism and commitment to achieving a safer and better CS Energy.”

Further analysis of the results will be published in CS Energy’s FY2026 Annual Report.

In Australia, around one in four people aged over 65 have at least one fall a year. One of the most effective ways to reduce a person's risk of falls and falls related injuries is do exercises that improve balance and strength.

In 2023, SQRH - Southern Queensland Rural Health partnered with Southern Cross Care Qld Ltd to deliver student-led Exercise Physiology services to residents at Illoura Village in Chinchilla. The program champions healthy aging and aims to reduce hospitalisations resulting from falls among residents.

When the need was identified for machine-based exercise equipment, the Friends of Illoura Village successfully applied for funding from CS Energy’s Community Sponsorship Program to purchase the equipment.

During a recent visit to Illoura Village we saw first-hand the benefits residents are gaining from using the equipment and the learning opportunities it is providing of Queensland physiology students.

We’re proud to support initiatives like this that will have a lasting impacting in the communities near our operations.

CS Energy was proud to sponsor the recent Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) Indigenous Business Connector event in Chinchilla, bringing together Indigenous businesses, industry and community to build connections and create opportunities.

Building genuine partnerships that support long-term economic opportunities for First Nations businesses and communities is an important goal for us at CS Energy, and we see real value in bringing Indigenous businesses, industry, and community together to build relationships and create opportunities.

We're also committed to creating pathways into the energy industry. With apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities opening across CS Energy in the coming weeks, we encourage First Nations people interested in a rewarding career in energy to apply.

Electrical engineering was never just about theory for Anshdeep Chawla - it was about seeing how ideas come to life in the real world.

"I was interested in mathematics and sciences in school, but I always felt there was a missing connection between what I was learning and its real-world applications," Anshdeep said.

Just a couple of months into CS Energy's graduate program, QUT (Queensland University of Technology) graduate Anshdeep Chawla found himself growing his technical skills with hands-on experience at the Callide Unit C4 overhaul.

"Being present during the overhaul was a huge experience in itself," he said.

"Seeing the scale of the work that goes into these overhauls and being part of the work on site has been extremely valuable for my learning and development as an engineer."

From supporting the commissioning of new low-voltage air circuit breakers, interpreting electrical drawings and schematics, competing testing and inspections, and validating that equipment operated as intended, Anshdeep has worked alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and electricians.

"The best part of the graduate program so far has been being around the people at Callide," he said.

"Whether it's technicians, engineers or electricians, there are so many experienced people on site, and being able to learn from them has been a huge privilege."

CS Energy's cycling team is gearing up for the 2026 Mater Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer, proudly continuing a tradition that's been going strong since 2021.

With their new jerseys now in hand, riders from our Brisbane office and Kogan Creek and Callide sites have been training and preparing for the 100km ride for some weeks, with the big day - Sunday 23 August - fast approaching.

The Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer supports Mater's vital cancer research, treatment, and patient care programs.

We're incredibly proud of the commitment our riders have shown, both on and off the bike, as they come together for a cause that has touched so many lives.

Thanks to a combination of community spirit and smart planning, a recent CS Energy Community Sponsorship is delivering even more value for local sport in the Banana Shire.

Callide Valley Touch Football Association was a recipient in Round 17 of our Community Sponsorships Program, with funds going towards the installation of an automatic sprinkler system on Field 3 at the Biloela touch football grounds.

Not only is the grass greener and playing surface smoother, but the upgrade helps to improve water efficiency, and reduce the workload on volunteers who previously relied on manual watering.

In a great example of a community coming together, local supporters donated the use of trenchers and diggers to complete the trenching work, helping the club save funds – which can now be reinvested into purchasing sand to fill and re-level the trenches as the ground settles, ensuring the field is in top condition and a safer surface for players.

The upgraded irrigation system will benefit more than 400 players and visitors each season, while also supporting school sport, representative opportunities, clinics, and regional carnivals.

Some of our team from Kogan Creek Power Station and Brisbane attended the Chinchilla Careers Expo yesterday, joining over 50 exhibitors showcasing a diverse range of industries, career pathways, education, and training opportunities available in the Western Downs.

The expo brought together students from Years 9 to 12, as well as job seekers, people considering a career change, and community members interested in exploring the opportunities available across the Western Downs region.

As a large employer in the region, we’re proud to share insights into the diverse careers that support the energy industry, and the skills needed to help power Queensland.

From apprenticeships and technical roles, to professional and corporate careers, it’s a great opportunity to highlight the many pathways available and encourage the next generation of workers to explore opportunities close to home.

Giving back to our local communities is something we're proud to be part of!

Recently, Grant and Caitlin from Callide Power Station represented CS Energy at the grand opening of the new St Vincent de Paul Society Retail and Community Hub, celebrating a space that will provide practical support to people needing a hand in the growing Banana Shire community.

The new site includes a community food pantry, family support spaces, and volunteer facilities as well as a Vinnies Shop.

We're pleased to have sponsored the fridge and freezer for the centre's food pantry through Round 16 of our Community Sponsorships Program, helping with the storage of essential food supplies to those who need them most.

It was a fantastic event recognising the incredible work Vinnies QLD volunteers and staff do every day to support local families and individuals in Biloela, and we’re proud to play our part in helping make a positive difference in the communities in which we operate.
