CS Energy is pleased to announce that Monadelphous has been awarded the contract to deliver the Balance of Plant works for the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant.

This includes the main construction works for the plant, including civil and mechanical works, piping, and installation of the gas turbines.

Located adjacent to our Kogan Creek Power Station near Chinchilla in the Western Downs, the 400 MW gas-fired peaker will strengthen Queensland’s energy system when it needs it most by:

✅ Providing fast-start capability, reaching full output within five minutes
✅ Providing enough power for more than 150,000 homes during peak demand
✅ Supporting reliability as intermittent renewables continue to grow

Developed by CS Energy in partnership with APA Group, the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant will play an important role in delivering reliable, dispatchable energy, complementing short-duration batteries and intermittent renewable energy generation.

Monadelphous is an experienced contractor, with deep capability in delivering complex energy infrastructure across Australia.

This project is part of the Queensland Government’s Energy Roadmap, supporting domestic energy security and ensuring Queenslanders have access to affordable, reliable, sustainable power now and into the future.

CS Energy proudly supported the Callide Dawson Chamber of Commerce 2026 Rebel FM Business Stars Awards last week, sponsoring the People's Choice Award which was taken out by Callide Manufacturing Company 🏆

It was also a special night for our team at Callide Power Station, with CS Energy named as a finalist in the Excellence in Industry Award. We were honoured to be alongside a strong field of local businesses, with First Grade Contract Maintenance taking out the award 👏

With close to 100 people in the room and more than 1500 votes cast, the evening highlighted the strength, resilience, and community spirit of the Callide region that we are proud to be a part of.

Congratulations to all finalists and winners, and thank you to the Chamber for hosting a fantastic event.

Thank you to Caitlin and Olivia for representing CS Energy at the event.

This National Reconciliation Week presents a meaningful moment for CS Energy as we reflect on the progress made through CS Energy’s first Reconciliation Action Plan.

Our Reflect RAP was launched in 2024, a year after we began a co-design process with our employees. It’s laid a strong foundation across the business, creating opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and deepening our connection with First Nations communities, with key outcomes including:

👏 Creating pathways - delivering First Nations traineeships with Mandana Pty Ltd and expanding our QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Oodgeroo Unit scholarships from one to two, then from two to four each year.

👏 Backing indigenous businesses - partnering with Indigenous suppliers including Ochre Australia Pty Ltd, Mandana, Two Birds Creative Co., Budby Yaga Group, Kimaka, Gawum Supplies, Copperhead and Kitja Services Pty Ltd.

👏 Supporting community and culture - such as NAIDOC Week events, the Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala Memorial Football Carnival, the First Nations Women in Business Forum, and the Darumbal Art Competition.

👏 Working respectfully on Country - strengthening partnerships with Traditional Owners, including developing a Cultural Heritage Management Plan with the Gaangalu Nation People at Callide Power Station, and building internal capability through dedicated cultural heritage roles.

As we look ahead to developing our Innovate RAP, we know there’s more to do.

We’re committed to building on this momentum by strengthening capability across our business and making a meaningful, lasting impact in partnership with First Nations communities.

We’d like to say congratulations, farewell, and good luck to Kahli Scriha as she heads out into the world on her next adventure! ✈

Kahli recently completed her traineeship with a Certificate IV in Business at Callide Power Station, and this week has finished her time with us to head overseas and pursue some different dreams and the kind of education you can only receive by living it.

Kahli made her mark with us, not only developing her skills, but representing our business with pride across the region.

Her achievements include:

👏 Taking out silver at the 2024 WorldSkills Australia Business Services Regional Competition
👏 Being named Trainee of the Year at CS Energy’s 2025 Apprentice and Trainee Excellence Awards

Kahli has also been an excellent ambassador for us, representing us at many community events and making a positive impact wherever she goes, and we’d like to thank her for everything she’s contributed to our team and communities.

We wish you all the very best, Kahli – the future is bright!

It’s National Volunteer Week, and at CS Energy we’re proud to have many people who volunteer their time to do incredible work throughout their communities.

Whether they’re supporting local clubs, youth programs, community events, and grassroots organisations, our people are genuinely committed to making a real difference to the communities where they live and work.

One such volunteer is our Kogan Creek Power Station Training Specialist James Usher, who volunteers as Secretary of the Chinchilla Lapidary and Gemstone Club, a group that has been bringing rock enthusiasts together since the 1960s.

Lapidary is the art of cutting and polishing rocks such as gems, petrified wood, opals, crystals, and agates, and Chinchilla is renowned for the wide variety of petrified wood found in the district.

“The Club often hosts fossicking expeditions that bring together lapidary clubs from all over Queensland and other parts of the country, searching for rare, petrified wood specimens,” said James.

“I volunteer my time on weekends to open the club to the public. We often have lapidary enthusiasts from across the country call in and swap stories, photos, and sometimes rocks. Many people call and ask for help identifying a certain type of rock or gem, which is fun and interactive, and we’ve also had a lot of recent interest from younger members of the community who are seeking to identify different rocks they’ve found. It’s great to see the interest and their amazement when they find a good rock.”

James said that the Club has always had enough members to keep it all going, and they’ve recently started updating the equipment, which he helps to maintain.

“I’m learning from people who have been working this equipment for close to 50 years,” James said.

“It is marvellous to take a piece of raw stone and polish it until it shines.”

Of course, there are many skills that James has learned and honed at CS Energy that he applies to his volunteering work - “Community engagement and event planning, and health and safety is always front of mind,” he said.

“The other thing is, the energy industry tends to attract people who have a sense of purpose, who want to do something for their community, and that’s what volunteering is about - it’s about being part of something bigger than yourself.

“It brings people together, you share what you know, and help keep community traditions alive.”

This week we've marked National Careers Week by connecting and sharing opportunities with the next generation of energy industry professionals.

From opening our apprentice and traineeship applications for the 2027 intake to attending the Biloela Careers Market Day, our people have been highlighting the work involved at a power station and the diverse range of career opportunities available at CS Energy.

"From apprenticeships and traineeships through to technical and professional roles, it was fantastic to share insights into the hands-on experience, teamwork, and innovation that power our operations every day," said CS Energy's Early Careers Advisor Megan D'Alessandro, who attended the Biloela Careers Fair and saw hundreds of students from Years 7 to 12 come to speak to the team.

"As a regional employer, we're passionate about creating opportunities for local people to build meaningful careers close to home, and it was inspiring to see so much interest from students keen to explore their futures in the energy industry.

"They especially benefited from the presence of four of our current apprentices and trainees, who were able to share their real-life experience."

Thank you to our team for representing CS Energy; and thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat - we look forward to seeing where your career journey takes you.
