📸 Snapshots from our recent site visit to the GUYKAT Aviation Facility.

Structural steel is now standing on our purpose-built 1,390m² helicopter hangar at Sunshine Coast Airport, delivered under a Design & Construct contract for GuyKat Investments.

Still to come: mezzanine offices, full civil works, electrical and hydraulic services, internal fit-out and external landscaping, all within one of Queensland's fastest-growing aviation precincts.

Always good to get out on site and see the plans standing up in real life.

Simon Cross from Sunshine Coast Realty Services, part of the Realty Services Group, on the works at Maroochydore.

Plexxcon was selected from three tenders by the owners and body corporate. Water ingress had been identified over the podium level a couple of years back, so the works involved stripping out the existing planter boxes, resolving the source, and rebuilding into the planted areas you see today.

All of it delivered on a live site, with residents living and working around us start to finish. That's the part that takes real planning, and credit to Site Manager Matt Dodds and the crew for how they handled it.

Remediation is one of the things we do best 🏗️

One thing you might not know about Plexxcon is just how much of our work sits in remediation, and the works completed here do it justice.

This project involved the demolition of existing planter boxes, full removal of the gardens, and then a complete rebuild with brand new waterproofing and pot plant installations. It's the same story across our pool restorations, concrete cancer repairs, and the re-waterproofing works we deliver on high rises, where full scaffold builds go up so balconies and façades can be brought back to standard.

From Cairns down to the Sunshine Coast, through to Brissy and the Gold Coast, our teams are everywhere and we're only looking to expand further.

Spend a day on site with our Site Manager Matt 👷‍♂️

Today we're checking in on two projects currently under construction.

✈️ GUYKAT Aviation Facility at Sunshine Coast Airport.

A purpose-built 1,390m² helicopter hangar being delivered under a Design & Construct contract. The project includes a structural steel hangar, mezzanine offices, full civil works, electrical and hydraulic services, internal fit-out and external landscaping, all within one of Queensland's fastest-growing aviation precincts.

🌿 Horton Apartment Landscape Refurbishment.

The finishing touches are coming together, with the landscape upgrades continuing to transform the shared outdoor spaces and give the complex a fresh new look.

From live aviation environments to occupied residential complexes, every project presents a different challenge. That's what makes complex construction what it is.

Meet Tomas Ruhle, our Building Cadet and one of the newer additions to the Plexxcon family. Tomas joined us in early 2026 with a background that's anything but ordinary - trade roots from his family's plastering business, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a completed plastering apprenticeship, and a degree in Urban Development majoring in Construction Management. Already diving headfirst into everything Plexxcon has to offer, Tomas is the kind of person who makes even the toughest days look manageable. We can't wait to see where this cadetship takes him!

NEW PROJECT 📍 Vernon Terrace, Teneriffe

Plexxcon has been engaged for a full pool rectification for this body corporate complex.

Everything comes out: concrete surrounds, planters, coping, waterline tiles and pebblecrete, with excavation to resolve any voids or subsidence.

Then the rebuild:
🔨 New reinforced concrete surround and the pool gets fresh pebblecrete
💧 Waterproofing + new fixtures to shower and toilet areas
🦺 Anti-slip tiling across the deck, shower, toilet and BBQ areas
✨ New handrail, pool lighting + footings for a future shade structure and the existing balustrade and gates are being reinstalled

Not your average job site 🚁

At our hangar project at Sunshine Coast Airport, the LifeFlight rescue helicopter takes off just 20 metres from where the team is working. Add daily aircraft movements and neighbouring businesses operating right through the build, and you've got a true live-environment project.

It takes constant coordination with airport operations — adjusted flight paths, exclusion zones and daily comms — to keep everything running safely. Steel's up and the team is loving the front-row seat.

Meet Richard Pain, Plexxcon's Estimating Manager and the person who makes sure every tender we put out is as sharp as it gets! Richard joined Plexxcon in 2023 and hit the ground running — with 18 years of experience under his belt and a genuine passion for the kind of complex, detail-heavy work that others shy away from. His ability to read between the lines of a tender, price the unpriceable, and still find time to keep the whole street informed on bin night makes him truly one of a kind. We're so glad he found his way to us!
