Sedgman has been awarded the Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for E3 Lithium’s Clearwater Project in Alberta, Canada.

Clearwater is one of Canada’s most advanced lithium brine projects and a cornerstone in advancing domestic critical minerals supply. Located in south‑central Alberta, the project leverages existing infrastructure and innovative Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology to support the sustainable production of battery‑grade lithium for North American and global markets.

Our work will define a robust, ex*****on‑ready pathway for the next phase of development, delivering engineering depth and disciplined study outcomes for a project that is strategically important to Canada’s critical minerals strategy.

We look forward to supporting E3 Lithium as Clearwater advances through the front-end works and prepares for project ex*****on.

Climate reporting in Australia has entered a new phase, with mandatory disclosures reshaping how organisations approach climate risk and decision-making. At Sedgman, we are supporting clients to move beyond baseline compliance by strengthening emissions data, embedding climate considerations into core business processes, and improving the quality of insights used to inform strategic decisions and report financial outcomes. This is where meaningful differentiation is emerging.

In Part 2 of this series, we will unpack what sits beneath the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard Climate Related Financial Disclosures (AASB S2) in practice, and where organisations in the resources sector should be focusing their effort.

This week at Sedgman, we are reflecting on the learnings that we shared across National Reconciliation Week and considering how we can continue to apply them moving forwards. To celebrate this year’s theme All In, Sedgman employees from our Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Mackay offices completed custom puzzles of an artwork from an Indigenous Australian artist. ‘Makuru’ belongs to a six-piece collection depicting the traditional Nyoongar seasons, by artist Ken Farmer, and portrays the cold, wet period of June/July which drives inland migration. Each office’s matching puzzle will serve as a reminder that reconciliation is a shared, ongoing mission.

Our Brisbane and Perth offices also screened SBS’s Reconciliation Memoirs: Pat Dodson during a Lunch and Learn session, hearing about Australia’s indigenous history and fight for equality from the former WA Senator and Special Envoy for Reconciliation and Implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, also affectionately known as Australia’s “father of reconciliation”.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our NRW celebrations. We look forward to developing these cultural learnings as we continue to progress on our reconciliation journey.

Sedgman’s Ken Darlington joined the panel “Tales from the Trenches” at the Society for Mineral Exploration in New York.

Across two days of discussion, a consistent theme emerged: as demand for critical minerals accelerates, project success increasingly depends on credible studies and robust downstream processing capability.

Industry leaders – from exploration companies through to operators, investors and government – highlighted the growing complexity of project development. Particular focus was given to the role of AI in supply chains, the need to strengthen processing capability, and the importance of de-risking projects through practical, delivery-focused studies.

Multiple panels reinforced that technical risk is now most concentrated in downstream development, and that credible, ex*****on-ready studies are critical to attracting investment across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Ken shared Sedgman’s perspective on how integrating engineering and operational expertise into study development strengthens confidence in delivery and supports better project outcomes.

We’re proud to contribute to these important conversations shaping the future of minerals processing.

We’re pleased to share that Mark Adams, Vice President, North America West, has been elected to the Board of Engineers Canada - the national organisation that coordinates engineering regulation across Canada’s provincial bodies.

Mark’s appointment, effective from the organisation’s AGM on 23 May, reflects both his leadership within the industry and his ongoing commitment to advancing the engineering profession.

This recognition builds on his previous tenure as President of Engineers and Geoscientists BC, where he played a key role in supporting the profession at a provincial level.

At Sedgman, we value the contribution our people make not only within our business, but across the broader engineering community. Mark’s appointment is a strong example of that impact in action.
