Synapse Social: Fly Connectomes & taste

Join UQ NeuroTech for our next Synapse Social, a casual catch-up over coffee where we dive into the latest in neurotechnology!

This session, we're exploring Fly connectomes ande the recently published study "The complete gustatory connectome of adult Drosophila reveals how taste guides feeding, foraging, and social behavior". This is the same species of fly that Bruno Van Swinderin uses to assist in his study of consciousness. So if our previous consciousness event interested you this could be a great follow on!

Synapse Social is back!

What if ultrasound could reduce addiction-related cravings by targeting a specific part of the brain?

This week we’re discussing studies which have used focused ultrasound neuromodulation to assist in treating addiction.

One interesting finding: participants showed an average 91% reduction in cue-induced opioid craving following treatment.

Kicking off Semester 2 with a Neurotech picnic!

This event is a chance to get to know others in the neurotech community (new and returning members welcome!).

Come find us on the grass, grab some food and get to meet so fellow neurotech enthusiast. We will have some conversation starters including neuroscience theories, controversial neuroethics and questions to get you thinking (and talking). No pressure, no expertise required, just good vibes and good company.
