BUMA Australia was proud to attend the Salute for Service Employer Panel and Networking Evening last week - a meaningful initiative that recognised the transferable skills of ex-defence personnel and what they value most in their next workplace: culture, mateship, teamwork, and strong values.
During the panel and networking sessions, BUMA Australia representatives Troy Abell (Training Manager) and Amanda Victor (Talent Acquisition Advisor) met with current Army, Air Force and Navy members who expressed genuine interest in transitioning into the mining industry, particularly into roles such as Diesel Fitting and maintenance-related career pathways.
A special thanks to Troy, who did a fantastic job representing the company on the panel. His engaging and authentic presence helped create an enjoyable and interactive atmosphere. A big thank you also to Amanda for her valuable contribution throughout the evening.
Overall, the event was an excellent opportunity to strengthen our connection with the defence community, highlighting the strong alignment between Defence values and our industry culture, while also deepening our understanding of the challenges many veterans face during their transition.
We’re grateful to Salute for Service for hosting such a great event and look forward to continuing our collaboration to support veteran career pathways.
