The Red Note Café at Griffith University is now one of the quieter spaces where students can enjoy a drink and meal on campus.

Our rectangular attenuators were used as part of upgrades made to the café and were designed to assist with noise control.

Made in Australia, our rectangular attenuators feature casings and splitters manufactured from:

- Galvanised steel (Z275)
- Stainless steel (304 and 316)
- Mild steel (when thicker material is required)
- Melinex® and glass fibre membrane
- Manufactured to fit standard ductwork connections

Our glass wool or mineral wool infill material is tested to AS1530.3:1989 with the following indices:

- Ignitability: 0
- Spread of flame: 0
- Heat evolved: 0
- Smoke developed: 0

Located just 200m from Mascot Station and in the hustle and bustle of Sydney's major universities, sits Iglu Mascot.

This $60m student accommodation facility will offer studio and share apartment options, plenty of functional communal spaces, and house 437 beds.

And as part of a noise control solution for the facility, our circular attenuators are being supplied on the project. These attenuators are fit-for-purpose and quality-checked at every stage of the manufacturing process.

Guzman y Gomez dish up the time-honoured flavours of Mexico, in restaurants that channel Mexico’s urban streets, across Australia.

Bursts of colour from Mexican tiles and street art contribute to a warm and energetic vibe that invites customers to settle in and savour every bite, whilst the Latin playlists keep the mood saucy.

Loud and intrusive noise from airconditioning equipment is not something Guzman y Gomez envision as part of their customer experience. So we have been happy to supply our made-to-order circular attenuations for noise control at Guzman y Gomez in Queensland.

Established in 1894, Santa Sabina College is an independent Catholic school located in Strathfield, Sydney. Sound and noise control are common concerns in re-developments and upgrades of educational facilities, and Santa Sabina College was no exception.

Our large rectangular attenuators were locally made and fit-for-purpose for this chiller plant refurbishment at the College. Improving acoustics and creating a better learning environment. Our production and delivery team were able to support the clients compressed program.

One thing we hear about frequently is sound pressure level (SPL). So we thought it timely to delve further into what SPL actually is.

Put simply, SPL measures how loud something is.

Sounds easy enough.
But it's far more technical. If you’re familiar with SPL you’ll know that it can be a difficult concept to get your head around. The best way to start is by identifying what we mean by ‘sound pressure’.

Sound pressure results from pressure variations in the air caused by sound waves. At one end of the spectrum is the lowest sound which can be heard by humans, called the hearing threshold. At the other end of the spectrum is the pain threshold...https://www.hvacattenuation.com/news/what-is-sound-pressure-level-spl

“The service provided by HVAC Attenuation & Oceania Solutions Group has been outstanding.

The HVAC Attenuation crew provided options from the design phase of the project, providing technical information for peer reviews with designers and even selecting the best ancillaries for ease of installation. As a Project Manager the procurement, programming and delivery of the products has been simple, and the team at HVAC Attenuation are always available.

Highly recommend the HVAC Attenuation product and am looking forward to working with them in the future”

In the world of acoustics there is a variety of polyester film products out there, but two of the strongest and most reliable names on the market today are Mylar® and Melinex®.

It might seem like most grades, types and sources of polyester film are pretty much the same, so we thought we’d go through some of the basics surrounding these products and when and why to apply them in attenuation manufacture and design.

Thinking of noise in terms of colour gives us greater control over the sounds we want to attenuate or amplify, which is why the noise colour spectrum is a valuable tool for a range of engineering tasks.

Next up in our colours of noise series is grey.

Grey is associated with textures and ideas that have a feeling of density or opacity, which might be why we use it to describe a texturally flattened sound. Grey noise is a mix of frequencies at equal loudness, which creates a homogenous soundscape. Fittingly, it sounds a lot like an intense downpour.

Would you believe that black noise found its way into the limelight thanks to David Bowie?

Black noise is an informal term used to describe the sound of silence.

It’s still noise – we just can’t hear it. It is classed as infrasound, meaning that it resonates below the frequency range the human ear can perceive.

Find out more about black noise by clicking here https://www.hvacattenuation.com/news/black-noise

Black noise is classed as infrasound, meaning that it resonates below the frequency range the human ear can perceive. Our ears can generally pick up frequencies between 20 and 20,000hz, but black noise resonates just under that threshold.

Noise control at an RAAF base in Darwin sounded like a challenge we were happy to take on.

The acoustic requirements were for a cinema within the base, and we could understand the importance of enjoying air conditioned comforts without hearing mechanical plant components.

Our rectangular attenuators and cross talks have now been installed at the cinema, and should be a sound solution for all of the Mavericks who want to dive into a movie and escape the Darwin heat.
