It was a great morning attending the AWIC networking event at Ballymore Stadium on Wednesday. 🥐☕️

AWIC events are always an excellent opportunity to connect, have a laugh and build relationships with other women across the construction industry, but their impact goes far beyond networking.

Behind the events are meaningful initiatives creating real pathways into construction, including school roadshows, the Be Ready career-focused program and Securing Futures.

With Australia facing an ongoing skills shortage, this work is so important. Creating more opportunities and clearer pathways for women not only supports greater diversity in construction, but also helps strengthen the industry and build the workforce of the future.

A throwback to 2023, when we completed Ashford Residences for our long standing client, Brighton Homes.

This project consisted of 80 townhouses, with our team delivering both the internal and external joint sealing across the entire development.

Since completing Ashford Residences, we've had the opportunity to work alongside Brighton Homes on two more large multi residential developments, with our fourth project together kicking off soon.

We always enjoy working with the team at Brighton. Their commitment to quality and well managed projects makes for a strong partnership and we're proud to continue to be chosen to work on Brighton Homes projects.

Joint sealing is often added to another trade’s scope to make a quick margin, without the experience or technical understanding required to deliver it correctly on commercial projects.

Saving $1–$2 per LM upfront can cost far more when the work falls behind programme, areas are missed, works fails certification or needs to be rectified by a specialist.

The cheapest quote can quickly become the most expensive.

Flashback to this stunning project we completed on Avesnes Street for our long-standing client, Essa Constructions.

Our team completed the full internal and external joint sealing scope in July 2025.

Essa Constructions has been working with Downseal Solutions for many years and while we love our large commercial projects, the team definitely has a soft spot for beautiful finishes like this. Partnering together is always easy when Ali and the Essa team not only produce quality work but run a tight and organised program.

You might struggle to spot the joint sealing in these images and that is exactly the point.

Joint sealing should blend seamlessly into your high end finishes, not steal the show.

June BTS Wrap Up with Downseal Solutions

It was a big month for the team.

Our monthly toolbox meeting focused on Men’s Health Week, which ran from 15 to 21 June. We covered important health and wellbeing topics before finishing the session by handing out waterproof lunch bags filled with goodies and helpful resources.

We also took part in The Push-Up Challenge, raising $1,420. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported the team throughout the challenge.

Sylvia also spent the morning volunteering at the AWIC Golf Day, supporting an organisation that continues to create connection, opportunities and visibility for women across the construction industry.

Downseal Solutions is also proud to be sponsoring the Outstanding Woman in Trade category at the 2026 AWIC Awards.

While our quality, workmanship and standards remain consistent, our approach is never one size fits all. We take the time to understand the scope, site requirements, program and tehnical details so we can tailor our delivery to suit each project.

Employee of the Quarter goes to Ruby 👏

Ruby joined our team in January as a Trainee Applicator, with only limited exposure to joint sealing through a family business. The progress she has made in that time has exceeded expectations.

It is not just her workmanship that has earned her EOTQ. It is the way she approaches the role every day.

Ruby shows initiative onsite, communicates well with clients, asks questions when she needs to and is always upfront about the areas she wants more training in so she can continue to improve and develop her skills quickly.

She often receives positive feedback from our clients, and this recent message from a client is a great example of that:

“Hi mate, just wanted to let you know I had Ruby do my job today at Bowen Hills and she was amazing. She did such a good job and was so easy to work with. I will be requesting her on any of my jobs moving forward. Thanks again.” - Monster Homes

EOTQ is not about how many metres you have sealed or how long you have worked at Downseal. It is about consistently delivering quality workmanship, delivering the service we are known for, taking ownership of your work and leaving clients wanting you back.

Ruby is setting a really strong example of what we want our trainee’s to produce and she is well on her way to becoming a fully qualified applicator.
