What is DFM and why does it matter?

DFM stands for design for manufacture. It's the practice of designing a product with the manufacturing process in mind from the start.

That means considering how a part will be moulded, what tooling it requires, where material can be reduced without losing strength, and how to hit a cost target without compromising quality.

Done well, DFM saves time, reduces waste, and gets your product to market faster.
