Working with the International Molybdenum Association (IMOA) on market development for stainless steel in the built environment, Veronika translates technical knowledge into practical guidance for designers and specifiers. Her recent work includes stainless steel case studies, material selection, durability and specification.

Alongside her consulting work, Veronika works at BVN, one of Australia’s leading design practices, bringing international design experience across Europe, China and Australia.

2.5 kilometres of stainless steel refrigeration pipework. 10 tonnes of grade 304 stainless steel. 20 air coolers lifted into position at heights of up to 15 metres.

ASSDA Member J.T Pipe&steel Fabrication Pty. Ltd has been nominated in the Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical category of the ASSDA Fabricator Project Awards for its work on the Hale Oakleigh Industrial Cold Storage Refrigeration Infrastructure project in Victoria.

Working under contract to Scantec Refrigeration, J.T Pipe & Steel Fabrication is delivering the complete fabrication and installation scope for approximately 10 tonnes of grade 304 stainless steel, comprising around 2.5 kilometres of schedule 10S refrigeration pipework and fittings from 50NB to 200NB.

The project combines detailed workshop prefabrication with high-level site installation, including pipe spools, elbows, branch connections, supports, valves and equipment connections. A major component of the work is the lifting and installation of 20 air coolers, each weighing approximately one tonne, at heights of up to 15 metres.

Grade 304 stainless steel was selected for its corrosion resistance, cleanability, strength and suitability for the demanding cold-storage environment.

Prefabrication helps improve dimensional accuracy and quality control, while reducing high-level hot work and supporting efficient installation across the large facility.

The project demonstrates the technical capability, planning and coordination required to deliver complex stainless steel refrigeration infrastructure, with fabrication, lifting and installation carefully sequenced alongside multiple trades.

Queensland’s major infrastructure pipeline is continuing to drive significant opportunities across the construction, engineering and manufacturing sectors.

We’re pleased to welcome Andrew Chapman, Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA), to the PacRim Stainless 2026 program.

Andrew will present ‘Queensland’s Major Infrastructure and Projects Pipeline’, providing an overview of the major projects shaping Queensland’s infrastructure landscape and the opportunities and challenges ahead for the industry.

A civil engineer by profession, Andrew brings extensive experience across the entire project lifecycle, from planning, design and construction through to operations and maintenance. His career has included roles with organisations including Seymour Whyte, Thiess, GHD and Transfield Services.

As CEO of QMCA, Andrew leads the organisation representing the engineering and construction companies responsible for delivering much of Queensland’s major construction and civil engineering work.

Andrew will join us as part of the Day 1 program at , alongside speakers exploring productivity, economic conditions, global stainless steel markets and the evolving Australian steel industry.

ASSDA Member and Accredited Fabricator Arcus Wire Group has been nominated in the Architecture, Building and Construction category of the ASSDA Fabricator Project Awards for its work on Happitat Adventure Park at Binna Burra, Queensland.

Australia’s first cliff park, Happitat is suspended high above the valley floor within the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park, presenting a unique combination of engineering, safety and environmental challenges.

Arcus Wire Group delivered critical stainless steel cable, mesh and structural systems across the park’s zip line, via ferrata, swing bridge and viewing platforms. The project incorporated 316 and duplex 2205 stainless steel wire rope, tension rods, mesh and custom-engineered connection systems.

Duplex 2205 was selected at the highest-load, safety-critical connection points for its superior strength, while 316 stainless steel provided the corrosion resistance required for the exposed rainforest environment.

A standout feature of the project was the adaptation of a proven mining safety clamp system for the park’s zip line, demonstrating innovative cross-industry engineering and rigorous safety certification.

The result is a unique example of stainless steel supporting complex structural and safety-critical applications in one of Australia’s most challenging environments.

We’re pleased to welcome Belinda Dennett, Chief Executive Officer of Data Centres Australia, to the PacRim Stainless 2026 program.

Joining us by video conference, Belinda will present ‘Data Centres in Australia’, providing an industry perspective on the growth of Australia’s data centre sector and the infrastructure supporting our increasingly digital economy.

Belinda is a highly respected public policy specialist with more than 20 years’ experience at the forefront of Australia’s digital economy and technology ecosystem. Prior to joining Data Centres Australia, she was Head of Government Relations at AirTrunk and spent more than a decade leading Microsoft’s Australian Corporate Affairs and Policy team. She is also a former Federal ministerial advisor focused on digital economy policy, with qualifications in law and business.

As CEO of Data Centres Australia , the peak body for the data centre and AI infrastructure sector in Australia, Belinda brings a unique perspective on one of Australia’s rapidly expanding infrastructure markets.

🏆 PROJECT NOMINATION | Australian Industry Stainless Steel Fabricator Awards 2026

is playing an increasingly important role in the rapidly growing data centre sector, and ASSDA Member Pure Piping is demonstrating what’s possible when advanced cooling technology meets high-purity stainless steel fabrication.

Pure Piping’s nominated project is a 252 MW hyperscale data centre campus in Truganina, Victoria, designed to support next-generation AI, high-performance computing and cloud workloads.

Pure Piping was engaged to deliver the complete secondary liquid cooling system incorporating 316L stainless steel distribution networks across nine data halls.

The scale is significant, with the project incorporating:
🔹 23,000 metres of 316L stainless steel tube
🔹 7,500 elbows and 7,500 ferrules
🔹 4,050 butterfly valves and 6,250 ball valves
🔹 24 headers and 148 hot aisle containment PODs
🔹 High-purity orbital welding throughout

The stainless steel pipework forms part of a looped liquid cooling system, delivering high-purity glycol to CDU-connected cold plate systems for direct-to-chip cooling. This enables higher rack densities, improved thermal stability and greater cooling efficiency compared with traditional air-cooled environments.

Stainless steel was selected for its corrosion resistance, long-term stability, cleanliness and ability to maintain coolant purity, replacing alternative materials considered during the early design phases.

The project also demonstrates the importance of precision fabrication at hyperscale, from orbital welding and sanitary ferrule connections to rigorous weld traceability, inspection, pressure testing and cleanliness verification.
A standout project showcasing the growing intersection between stainless steel, advanced cooling technology and Australia’s expanding digital infrastructure.

ASSDA Member Wilson Industries has been nominated in the Small Project, Big Impact category of the 2026 Australian Industry Stainless Steel Fabricator Awards for its work engineering a 41,800-litre 304 chilled-water buffer vessel for data centre applications.

Originally specified as a mild steel pressure vessel requiring approximately 16 mm thick material, Wilson Industries redesigned the vessel around 304 stainless steel, reducing the weight by approximately 3 tonnes per tank.

With more than 10 vessels designed and manufactured for four data centre projects, the benefits extend well beyond weight reduction:
🔹 Reduced fabrication and welding time through thinner material
🔹 Easier handling, transport and installation
🔹 Improved corrosion resistance
🔹 Compatibility with the stainless steel pipework connecting to the vessel
🔹 Elimination of the protective coating system required for mild steel
🔹 Reduced future coating and maintenance requirements

At approximately 7.35 metres long and 3.05 metres in diameter, these large pressure vessels presented significant fabrication challenges, including managing distortion, welding sequences and access to internal baffles.

Each vessel is manufactured in Australia to AS 1210 Class 2B, then pickled and passivated before hydro testing, insulation and casing.

This project demonstrates how making the right material choice early in the design process can deliver a better overall engineering solution, not simply a change in material.

How are Australia’s evolving trade measures shaping the steel industry and what could this mean for Australian manufacturers, fabricators and end users?

We’re pleased to welcome Mark Cain, Chief Executive of the Australian Steel Institute (ASI), to the program.

Mark will present ‘Safeguard Trade Measures’, providing insight into the current trade policy landscape and the issues shaping the future of steel in Australia.

With extensive experience across the steel industry, including senior technical, commercial, manufacturing and leadership roles with BHP and BlueScope, Mark brings a broad perspective on the Australian steel supply chain. He has been Chief Executive of the Australian Steel Institute since 2019.

As Australia’s peak body representing the entire steel supply chain, from manufacturing mills through to end users in construction, engineering and manufacturing, ASI is closely involved in the policy and industry discussions influencing Australia’s steel sector.

10,000+ hours of fabrication. 18 process vessels. ASSDA Member A&G Engineering has entered Project Bluebird in the Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical category of the 2026 ASSDA Fabricator Awards. 🏆

Undertaken for Mauri in Ballarat, Project Bluebird is a $200+ million state-of-the-art flour milling facility, capable of processing around 180,000 tonnes of wheat each year.

A&G designed, manufactured and delivered 18 stainless steel process vessels and six discharge hoppers, ranging from 3m³ to 230m³, across its Griffith and Mildura facilities.

The project involved more than 10,000 hours of in-house engineering and fabrication, with meticulous planning required for vessels installed through multiple levels of the facility with tolerances of just 45–50mm.

A&G also successfully advocated for stainless steel over the originally considered mild steel, recognising its benefits for hygiene, cleanability, corrosion resistance and long-term performance in a food manufacturing environment.

A fantastic example of Australian stainless steel fabrication delivering at scale.
