TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) Rubber 3D Prints
TPU is an extremely useful polymer, it can be used to make gaskets, protective electronics enclosures, grommets, soft-mount standoffs for electronics and more.
TPU comes in varying hardness, to accommodate your application, 95A TPU is our most popular as it is typically the highest durometer/hardness you can easily get. 60A TPU is also popular as this closely mimics neoprene rubber, however, there are less colour options for the 60A variant and print quality may be slightly worse due to it being softer.
TPU 95A has a heat deflection temperature of approximately 120-140 Degrees Celsius depending on the material supplier, making it useful in automotive and other high temp applications. TPU also has great chemical resistance.
In this case study, our customer was using TPU for a snug fit and protective end cap for fiberoptic cabling. We produce small production run volumes of approximately 200 pieces at a time, eliminating the expense for tooling up injection moulds, plus a faster lead time.
TPU usually has some issues with stringing while printing, however, we take the time to tune our printer to your exact job to avoid and minimise any stringing, resulting in clean, production ready parts.
