Good surveying keeps projects moving efficiently

From footing / slab / hold down bolt set-out and as-constructed pickups to pathway levels, control installation, and RLs - Strong collaboration between site crews, surveyors, and trades helped maintain workflow, manage logistics, and keep everything tracking in the right direction.

Meet Sam 👷🏻

Sam’s path to Holovision blends creativity with cutting edge tech. With a background in animation and film scanning, he now specialises in capturing reality using various laser scanners and survey equipment.

One of the most rewarding parts of his journey has been reconnecting with his animation skills - bringing data to life through flythroughs and video presentations that add a whole new dimension to our work.

For Sam, it’s not just about the tech - it’s about where the work takes him. Exploring unique and often “hard to access” locations, including unforgettable spots like Katherine Gorge, is all part of the job. When he’s not scanning in the field, you’ll find him climbing, working on side projects, or looking for his next surf session.

Keep up the great work, Sam! 🙌🏻

There’s a different level of satisfaction in seeing your work move from screen to site.

Wilma led the modelling of this complex stair balustrade system, working through sloping alignments, staggered heights, and the added challenge of adapting the design to suit as-built concrete conditions. Using point cloud data, the model was continuously refined to ensure accuracy and constructability at every stage.

On a recent return to site to capture additional scans for the external balustrade, Wilma was able to see the partially completed installation up close. Standing in front of something that started as a digital model is always a proud moment, and a great reflection of the care behind the work.

Projects like this highlight the impact of combining skilled people with the right technology.

Supporting Progress On Site

Our latest project involved marking hold-down bolt positions for upcoming steel base plates - an important step in preparing for the next stage of works.

Working within an active site means conditions are constantly evolving, so planning each setup carefully is key. In some areas, adjusting our approach or completing a second setup helped keep things moving efficiently. Ongoing communication with the site manager and trades ensured everything stayed aligned with site progress. Where required, alternative approaches were discussed and agreed on before proceeding.

To support future stages, we also established additional site control, installing six extra reference points to the rear of the site. A good example of how coordination and adaptability keep things running smoothly on site.

We’re excited to welcome Lovepreet to Holovision as a Construction Modeller. 🚀

Lovepreet holds a three-year Polytechnic Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Management. His career includes extensive experience in steel fabrication, including time working in New Zealand, where he began on the shop floor before progressing to a Steel Detailer using Tekla Structures, a role he has continued in for around seven years.

At Holovision, Lovepreet focuses on steel detailing using Tekla Structures and also supports precast detailing when required. Drafting has been his passion since college, and he enjoys the precision and problem-solving that detailing brings.

Outside of work, Lovepreet enjoys music and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

Welcome to the team, Lovepreet! 🎉🚀

Our team delivered comprehensive scan coordination and drafting services to support the installation of aluminium cladding onto an existing structure. The building was modelled with a high level of precision to ensure all new elements integrated seamlessly with on-site conditions.

The aluminium design featured multiple folded sections, requiring specialised modelling techniques to accurately represent each fold for fabrication. Through detailed scan coordination and meticulous drafting, we ensured every component was build ready and error free.

Led by Drafter Umut Celik, the outcome was a smooth and efficient installation.

Client feedback:
“All the nodes have fitted perfectly. We nearly got them all installed in one day. That’s impressive for how detailed they are. Credit to your CAD work.”

Another example of how scan coordination and expert drafting drive successful project delivery.

Complex Facilities Require Precise Data 👌🏻

Renovating industrial facilities isn’t simple. Hidden pipes, tight machinery layouts, and complex structures mean even small unknowns can lead to delays, cost overruns, and surprises on site.

Scan to BIM changes that. We capture every detail - every pipe, every machine, every structure - and create a digital model that reflects reality down to the smallest detail.

📌Working from a precise, reality-based model means:
• Fewer surprises on-site
• Faster decision-making
• Smoother collaboration across teams
• Projects that stay on time and on budget

Precision turns uncertainty into confidence. When your model matches reality, renovations move faster, risks shrink, and even the most complex facilities become manageable.

Stop guessing. Start knowing.

Scan-to-BIM delivers clarity, control, and efficiency for every project.

When millimetres matter, guessing isn’t an option. 👌🏻

Before any new conveyors or walkways could be designed, we needed a crystal-clear understanding of a space that’s anything but simple: the tight void between massive silos and their roofs. Capturing it meant getting creative - scanning from elevated vantage points, working at long range with high-density data, and carefully collecting close up detail in areas where access is limited and alignment is critical.

The payoff?
Reliable, high-accuracy data that allows new steelwork to be fabricated to fit seamlessly into a very narrow window lining up with existing openings and access points first time, not after costly adjustments.

Challenging environments are where reality capture really proves its value!
