A staircase is a spatial opportunity, considered with the same care as a façade or an entry sequence: what does this moment need to feel like?

Sometimes that means timber treads and glass balustrades, allowing light to move uninterrupted through the home. Sometimes it means full timber, warm and substantial, designed to feel as though it has always belonged. Sometimes it’s black steel against natural timber, drawing a confident architectural line through softer, layered interiors.

And what happens beneath the stair matters just as much as the stair itself.

Left open, it creates volume, generosity and breathing room. Enclosed with intention, it becomes a wine cellar, a library or a curated arrival space. Functional square metreage, quietly earning its place within the home’s design.

Some details look effortless. This curved wall took serious expertise to build.

We created this serene bathroom sanctuary with a sculptural sage-green tiled curve that wraps around a freestanding tub, complemented by a striking pendant light. The result is a calm, spa-like space that brings quiet luxury to the everyday ritual of slowing down.

But the beauty is hard-won. Curved walls are one of the few design features where almost every trade has to rethink their standard approach. The framing, lining, waterproofing, and precise tile set-out must all follow the exact arc with millimetre accuracy. What looks graceful in the finished home is the product of careful planning and exceptional workmanship long before the first tile is laid.
