In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the health and safety function on-site while ensuring complete compliance with the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS). You will act as a critical mentor, providing advice, coaching, and risk management consultation to frontline leaders and coal mine workers.

Thank you Kahlia and Grace 🙌🏼

During the recent wet weather event, we saw some outstanding teamwork across our sites. Thank you to everyone who adapted, supported each other, and helped keep things moving safely during challenging conditions.

We’d like to give a special shout‑out to Kahlia Scully and Grace Taylor, who went above and beyond when several of our personnel were flooded in. They assisted by gathering essential supplies from the Capella side and worked closely with the CMWs to make sure meals were organised, especially when messages weren’t getting through. Their quick thinking and willingness to step in made a real difference.

Thank you, Kahlia and Grace - and thank you to all employees who supported the business and each other throughout the event. Your teamwork and resilience didn’t go unnoticed.

MDS TLO Reaches 1,000-Train Milestone

Prior to the establishment of the MDS Train Load Out (TLO) in June 2020, MDS coal was transported to Minerva Mine for train loading and subsequent shipment to port.

Initially designed for daylight-only operations, the TLO transitioned to 24/7 loading by mid-2021 in response to network constraints. With a nominal capacity of 80,000 tonnes, the TLO has at times held up to 100,000 tonnes.

Unlike most TLOs in the Bowen Basin, it operates using a manual loading system, where front-end loaders tip coal directly into train wagons. On Monday, 23 March 2026, the TLO achieved a significant milestone, loading its 1,000th train, which departed for port at 8:45am.

Over nearly six years of operation, the TLO has recorded only a small number of minor incidents and zero injuries, an outstanding achievement and a testament to the commitment and performance of the MDS team.
