Woopi Beach House: Beach Session De-sanding
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our clients love the beach, but sand in the house? Not so much!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Upon return from the beach, the external garden path takes you to the central courtyard of the house, or the 'de-sanding' area as it came to be called.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Within the courtyard is a private outdoor hot water shower, towel hooks and a surfboard rack, plus garden bed edges and steps to sit on while waiting for your turn in the shower!

Woopi Beach House: the ultimate site and brief
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The brief: a 'hardwearing Beach House' for use of an extended family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The site: a large block on the headland of Woopi (Woolgoolga), with uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean and its coastline to the north.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The concept was straightforward: a single storey courtyard house, with a central deck and private outdoor shower for de-sanding after long beach sessions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We're very proud of this project. Many thanks to our clients who had such faith in us, to Mark Robinson of Robinson Building who executed the build with immense care and skill, and to Macpherson who captured so many amazing shots on a day when it was difficult to catch the sun!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We'll be posting more of this project in the coming weeks.

Red Hill House
Voting for Habitus' House of the Year People's Choice Award closes this Wednesday!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To chalk one up for our Red Hill House, follow the link in our Bio. Thanks to all those that have already voted!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s a couple of shots of what’s most easily described as the ‘hallway’ of the house, although this one does more than the term suggests...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s the entrance, mini mud room, convertible kids living, a viewing platform and the lungs of the house.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The full length of the hall is lined with banks of louvres. These open onto strip garden under a deep eave, edged by protective layer of timber battens.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The timber battens serve as a rain screen, and shade the facade from afternoon sun. The louvres often remain open during steamy Brisbane storms, permitting the humid pre-storm air to exchange with the rain cooled air outside.
