🚨 Rail & Civil – Rope Access Technicians Wanted (Dec 20, 21, 22, 23, 27 & 28) 🚨

Rail & Civil are looking for Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Rope Access Technicians to assist with batter stabilisation works within the rail corridor around the Brisbane CBD.

You’ll be required to work in with our team and assist with general labouring on ropes, as well as support a range of stabilisation tasks.

Work will include:
• General labouring on rope
• Working in with our team on batter stabilisation
• Shotcreting support
• General embankment and civil works

Top rates paid for the right candidates.

To be considered, you’ll ideally have:
✔️ RIW
✔️ Queensland Rail tickets
✔️ Rope access experience in civil/rail environments

If you don’t have rail tickets but are still interested and keen to become part of the team, please get in contact. We may be able to train up the right people and assist with obtaining the required RIW tickets.

Sandgate Culvert Replacement: Navigating Safety, Environmental, & Engineering Challenges

This culvert replacement wasn’t straightforward. During stormwater upgrades, acid sulphate soils were uncovered—adding serious environmental risk. Rail & Civil responded with strict controls to safely manage excavation and disposal.

The team also faced safety concerns beyond the usual rail hazards, including vulnerable individuals near the site. Coordinating closely with safety officers, they ensured community risks were addressed without compromising progress.

Finally, when precast pits proved unworkable due to site and soil conditions, Rail & Civil pivoted—building a custom in-situ pit using specialist crews and equipment. The tailored solution met both environmental constraints and the project’s tight timeline.

Bundamba Mast Foundation – Tough Ground, Tight Access, Big Results!

Safety first — always.

This week, we completed a challenging mast foundation at Bundamba. Normally, we’d select larger machines from our fleet to tackle tough ground, but with live trains passing and restricted access, we had to get creative.

Our methodology began with planning and risk assessments. We drilled a 900mm wide, 4.3m deep hole through tough boulders and fill using 5T and 8T excavators — a task that required precision and careful coordination. To safely identify underground services, we used vacuum excavation, ensuring we avoided any potential conflicts with critical infrastructure.

Working around live overhead services and Queensland Rail's critical assets demands a highly trained and experienced crew. We implemented strict exclusion zones, utilised spotters at all times, and maintained constant communication to ensure the safety of both the team and the rail operations.

This project is a prime example of how we approach complex challenges across the rail corridor. No challenge is too big for Rail & Civil!

Outstanding job! Shout out to our incredible night shift crew at Rail & Civil!

In collaboration with Queensland Rail, our team has been hard at work installing a steel-fabricated walkway and handrail on the railway bridge over the large roundabout at Birkdale Road and Quarry Road. Spanning nearly 200 meters, this important upgrade brings an older-style bridge up to today’s safety standards.

Working above a busy roundabout — with live traffic, pedestrians, and ongoing train operations — adds a whole new level of complexity. It’s a challenging environment that requires careful planning, coordination, and teamwork, and our night crew continues to deliver with precision and professionalism.
