EDL joined Australian cricket legend Merv Hughes for the Long Yarn Gent's Lunch in rural New South Wales, organised by Gunning Community Care. EDL has proudly sponsored this event since 2023, to encourage conversation and action around men’s mental health in rural Australia. More than 160 blokes joined the event this year and raised $50,000 for the Community Health Service.

It’s National Reconciliation Week in Australia, a time to encourage us all to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and commit to reconciliation for First Nations.🖤💛❤️

In preparation for National Reconciliation Week, and as part of EDL’s continued commitment to First Nations engagement and our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we held a special event with our team to introduce Supply Nation – a non-profit organisation that aims to grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business opportunities through promotion of supplier diversity in Australia.💡

Supply Nation is committed to working with EDL, so we can become more aware of the types of First Nations businesses we can partner with to support our project and operations.☀️

The theme of this year’s National Reconciliation Week is "All In", reminding us that reconciliation means an active commitment from us all - at home, work and in everyday life. EDL is proud of our commitment to diversity, inclusivity and reconciliation, and the small part we play in driving change in Australia. 🖤💛❤️

A huge thanks to Cassie from Supply Nation for hosting the session and our Procurement team - Brett, Steph, Clayton and Amran - for bringing it all together. 📸

This week is National Volunteer Week in Australia. Organised by Volunteering Australia, this is a time to appreciate the efforts of volunteers in our community and acknowledge what great things we can achieve through volunteering our time.

At EDL, we value volunteer work and offer all our employees two paid days per year that can be used for volunteering. This policy demonstrates our commitment to making a positive impact on our local communities where we operate.

Melissa TeAhuru, EDL’s Business Development and Proposals Coordinator, based in Perth, Western Australia, is just one of many team members who are passionate about giving back.

“Even as a teenager in high school I was organising talent shows to fundraise for local charities,” said Melissa. “Today, I appreciate the opportunity to participate in volunteering activities as part of my role with EDL. Recently I organised a day with our team, volunteering to make sandwiches for the homeless, which was a truly rewarding experience,” she said.

“Outside of work, I volunteer as a Team Manager for my daughter’s rugby league team and my husband is the Coach! There is nothing more fulfilling than helping people in our local community,” Melissa added.

People Power: Meet Mollee, who is powering through her apprenticeship with EDL in Moranbah, QLD, and is already on her way to a great career. ⭐️

Mollee joined EDL in 2022 as a school-based mechanical trade apprentice. She’s currently in her final year of the apprenticeship and looking forward to becoming fully qualified and taking the next steps in her career journey. Here’s what a typical day looks like for Mollee: 🌅

🕠 Start the day with an operations pre-start team meeting to plan the day and discuss safety protocols.
🕠 Check the power station for any maintenance required and complete the necessary paperwork.
🕠 Take a break for something to eat and plan for the rest of the work day.
🕠 Conduct servicing on the power station.
🕠 Complete reporting for the day and sign out.
🕠 Head home to relax for a while, then get ready to coach the Under 15’s Girls Rugby League Team.

Mollee is energised by learning new things every day and gaining more confidence in her abilities, which has also helped her to feel more resilient in her everyday life. “Throughout my apprenticeship with EDL, I’ve been offered opportunities outside of my comfort zone, which has helped me to develop problem-solving skills and push myself to achieve new things,” said Mollee. “I love the connections that I’m making in the industry through my role with EDL, as well as in the local community through my role in club sports,” she added. 🏈

Last Friday a group of EDL team members in Perth, Western Australia, volunteered their time to support Perth Homeless Support Group – swapping their office wear for aprons to make sandwiches that would be offered to the local homeless community. 🥪💛

The volunteering was organised by Mel, EDL Business Development and Proposals Coordinator, who is a finalist for EDL’s 2026 Community Excellence Award, in recognition of her outstanding contribution in supporting those less fortunate.

Melissa said a recent office survey revealed homelessness was among the top charitable interests of the local team in Perth. 💡

“Our office survey showed that supporting homeless people in Perth was something that our team felt really strongly about,” said Melissa. “Making sandwiches together for the Perth Homeless Support Group Inc. allowed us to join forces as a team, share some laughs, and know that our sandwiches will help make someone’s day a little easier and show them that we care,” said Melissa.

EDL values community contribution and all employees have two days of paid volunteering time every year to offer their support to charitable causes of their choice. We appreciate the opportunity to work with Perth Homeless Support Group and hope to collaborate again in future. 🌟
