There are plenty of times we have to suck up losses,
So we’re definitely not going to let the chance to relish the wins pass us by!

The Future Lady Tradies awards night was absolutely amazing, fun, and meaningful…
Taking away the award for Male Advocate of the Year was such a privilege and something we’re extremely proud of.
It’s straight down the line of our core values and something we take very seriously.
So anyway,
No sad faces! In fact, some pretty happy ones 🤘🏼🍻🙌🏼

Turns 8 years old 🥳

And what a year it’s been!
We handed over our biggest and best project ever in spectacular fashion as a huge success.
Lost a highly valued client but gained 4 more as a result of the availability.
We won tenders to have the project cancelled altogether.
We’ve been pricing like crazy.
We’ve continued solving problems, however unglamorous, and had more wins than losses.

I’d like to personally thank my awesome team for keeping their chins up through the roller coaster ride and maintaining a strong positive attitude.

Thank you to our outstanding team of Consultants and Subcontractors who work with us to deliver on our promises, time after time. To an excellent high standard.

And thank you to our valued clients for trusting and believing in us over and over again.

On we roll 🤘🏼

Some achievements feel that bit more special than others, and that’s definitely true for this one.
Advocating for equality has always been extremely important to me, and having the opportunity to support empowering our female apprentices through safer and more supportive work sites is actually next level awesome.

Recognition isn’t what I do it for, and it’s humbling to receive it. I’m extremely grateful 🙏🏼

I kind of danced around what I really wanted to get across in my acceptance speech for Male Advocate of the Year at the 2026 Awards Night but that’s how it goes 😅
I really wanted to say just how much the female apprentices being celebrated, had to be proud of.
Being an apprentice is tough enough and I meant it when I said I understood what it felt like to cry in the car on the way home after a hard day of work, ridicule, bullying and feeling deflated.
But,
For these female apprentices, they have another layer stacked on top of all that.
Their persistence is impressive and they have so much to be proud of.

We have a long way to go as an industry, but we’re on the way…

🏆 Celebrating our incredible Ambassador, Joe Dageforde!

We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate Joe, owner and operator of 4 Shore Projects, long-time friend of Friends with Dignity and, quite simply, an all-round wonderful human.

Joe has an incredible passion for helping others. Whether he’s supporting, building, nurturing or advocating, he brings an enormous amount of heart and commitment to everything he does.

As a valued member of our Little Friends Scholarship panel, Joe is a passionate advocate for ensuring children impacted by domestic and family violence have access to opportunities that help them learn, grow and thrive.

So, were we surprised to see him named Male Advocate of the Year at the recent Future Lady Tradies Awards? Not one bit! 🎉

We were incredibly proud to be there to see Joe recognised for the champion he is and to celebrate such a well-deserved achievement.

Congratulations, Joe! Thank you for everything you do, for Friends with Dignity and for the wider community. We’re very lucky to have you in our corner. 💜

Well!!!
Some weeks certainly start off better than others and this one is a cracker!
I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that after getting this news, I was a little teary... Advocating for a Rising Cause that should have always been Mainstream seems second nature and certainly doesn’t feel like effort.
That said;
I’m proud to announce that I have been nominated for the Lady Tradies 2026 Male Advocate of the Year Award 👏

It’s a bit hard to describe how wonderful it feels to be recognised alongside so many incredible people in the industry. I’m very much looking forward to the event on the 18th of September and celebrating the amazing work happening across the trades.

A big congratulations to the other nominees as well - what amazing recognition!

Today,
Was a special day.
Not in the sense that all our days are special in their own way.
Special in the way that is unique and magnificent.

I was invited to the annual luncheon by the remarkable Manuela Whitford sitting at the table supporting Friends with Dignity Ltd and if there was ever a room full of inspirational humans, that was it.
Everyone each with their own unique passion, story, purpose, and reason for being there.

It was the wrap up of Qld Philanthropy Week and was a total eye opener!

I met some remarkable humans who are now strong connections and listened to so many stories/perspectives of people just out there doing amazing things in the areas they care about.
Not for fame, notoriety or even recognition. But because they found a situation they believed was unacceptable and started DOING THE DOING it takes to create change.

I even found myself a Nan… I haven’t had a close Nan in my life and this gorgeous woman assumed the role instantly…
She’s creating housing solutions for elderly women who have fallen through the cracks…
And omg she was such a warm human.

The event reminded me of something I wrote on a napkin and handed to someone I bumped into, who was doing it tough, when I was travelling through Europe…
“The thing that makes doing something small for the benefit of another so ridiculously beautiful, is that so few people choose to”.
Well!!!
Not today!
It was an entire hall full of people doing extraordinary, selfless things for the betterment of the world around us.
And it was comprehensively inspirational ❤️‍🩹❤️🙌🏼

Friendraiser Spotlight: Joe 💜

Joe is the founder of 4 Shore Projects and a long-time supporter and ambassador of Friends with Dignity.

He has been a passionate advocate of our Little Friends Scholarship Program, playing an active role in reviewing and granting scholarship applications each round to help children access extra-curricular activities while experience domestic and family violence.

Joe brings not only his professional expertise, but also a deep personal commitment to supporting adults and children rebuilding their lives after domestic and family violence.

Having overcome significant challenges in his own early life, Joe understands the importance of stability, opportunity and community.

We’re incredibly proud to have him as one of our Founding Friendraisers and ambassadors.
