🚧 Freeman Bridge, Veresdale Scrub School Road, Veresdale - Load limit and speed reduction now in place 🚧

Scenic Rim Regional Council and Logan City Council have introduced a 26-tonne load limit and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h on Freeman Bridge across Cyrus Creek on Veresdale Scrub School Road, Veresdale, to ensure the continued safety of all road users.

Why is this happening?

As part of the ongoing maintenance of Freeman Bridge, Council has undertaken an engineering assessment to ensure the continued safety of all road users and the ongoing integrity of the bridge.

These measures will help reduce stress on the bridge while planning for future maintenance and ensure the bridge can continue to operate safely for the community.

Additional traffic management measures will also be introduced from 2 September 2026.

What does this mean for road users?
✅ A 26-tonne load limit will apply from 2 September 2026.
✅ A reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place.
✅ Vehicles exceeding the load limit will need to use alternative routes.

🚧 Project update – Maclean Road Upgrade Stage 2

Works along Alexander Street and Short Street, including the Stanley Street intersection, are due to be completed in October 2026.

The upgrade will address issues with road condition, pedestrian access and stormwater drainage, helping improve safety, accessibility and how people move through the area.
