Nice little set up, Victron 5Kva Inverter/charger, 100A charger/controller, 3.2Kw solar array with 2 strings of 4 modules. 200Ah 48volt battery installed out side. Designed for increased self consumption and black out proofing, with the majority of the premises now powered off the grid, backed by the mains autonomously. Set up battery for max life expectancy.

Hi ALL.
I was asked to replace a solar module a tree limb had fallen on and broke the glass. On replacement, it was found the trees has dropped a lot of material onto the array/roof which had accumulated under the modules, turns out it's very dry under a solar array and the leaves, twigs were like tinder, fire starter.
The solar module had holes burned through the backing material and to me was so close to starting a fire in the heat of Summer was really scary. Thanks to the Customer for taking quick action to get me out to replace and re commission the 10Kva Roof Top Solar Array. Brings me no joy to post this.

I'm still putting systems together with batteries that last much longer than 10 years and are recycled almost 100% into new batteries.
Old solar arrays that charge batteries should remain clean and updated with new cables, conduit and isolators. Solar yields through Winter was surprising, ever ones systems ok. ! There is one though ill fix Wadamana end of Echo, needs 350w modules. Service (oil/filter) the generator, because they always do a few hours in our Tasmanian Winter.

Little EP Solar System is back, successfully running some refrigeration and basic functions over a period of 5 months into the Winter, interfaced with a generator. System will continue to be an Emergency Supply for anyone that needs it and showcase Epever product in application. Paired with a 12v BAE770 battery pack and 1200w solar array.

Nah, not on holidays or fixing on my place :) Working on a ground mount 5.9Kw array, 48v, 770 BAE Battery pack, twin 60A Controllers and a 5Kva Inverter Charger. Still a bit to do, all posts in today concrete Friday.

Almost finished shifting my work shop again, so back in the van again and get out there.
The next few months is going to be a little rough with low solar yields and falling ground temperatures. mid August we will be out of the shade again and these figures will rise to normal operations.

If you haven't operated your generator as a back up now is the time to give it a run, charge the start battery, change the oil, check the spark plug. Most importantly check it is doing the job, charging batteries and providing back up as installed and designed.

Also a great time, on a cloudy day to clean up the solar array, I've been to off grid sites that have had no maintenance done on the solar array which has caused a huge shot fall in generation, causing a loss of power. Dirty modules lead to poor performance and more reliance on the back up systems. Do maintenance and inspections as it will greatly help your battery set service a long cold Tasmanian winter.
In all cases look forward to the next block of work all over the place. There is about 3 solid months of it.

Best wishes to all,
Matthew Pullen
