PWS recently completed the Churchill Park Sewer Pump Station Renewal Project, a design and construct project delivered in partnership with IPD Consulting.

Despite challenging ground conditions, including contaminated material, groundwater and unstable soils, the project was successfully delivered through careful planning and ex*****on.

Key aspects of the works included the installation of screw piles to provide a stable foundation and resist groundwater buoyancy forces, the installation of approximately 165 metres of HDPE pipeline, the supply and installation of all pumping, electrical and control equipment, testing and commissioning of the new pump station, hydrostatic testing of both the wet well and associated pipework, and the successful management of the cutover into the new wastewater infrastructure with minimal disruption to the existing network.

The upgraded pump station is now capable of supporting peak event loads of up to 4,000 people, providing reliable wastewater infrastructure for the local community well into the future.

PWS continues to support mining operations across Tasmania, delivering HDPE pipeline infrastructure across a range of mining applications.

Our recent work has included fire main installations, tailings distribution pipelines, underground dewatering lines, water storage infrastructure, decant water upgrades, planned shutdown maintenance, HDPE fabrication, and mechanical pipework, along with the supply of HDPE pipe, fittings and associated materials.

PWS has completed the final cut over of the Davis Street Sewer Rising Main in Smithton for TasWater.

This critical stage demanded extensive planning, detailed cut over methodologies, and precise coordination to complete a 3.5 hour shutdown while managing combined inflows from Smithton’s wastewater network and four major food manufacturing facilities using multiple mobile storage tankers.

With over 1.1km of DN500 HDPE pipeline installed through complex ground conditions, the project highlights PWS’s ability to plan, coordinate and deliver critical infrastructure while maintaining essential wastewater services with minimal disruption.

Another successful project delivered by the PWS team.

Great progress continues on the Churchill Park SPS Renewal Project, with a key milestone reached today — installation of the wet well base on 3 x screw piles.

This project presents some unique site challenges, including contaminated soil and significant groundwater ingress, the team is doing a fantastic job pushing forward safely and efficiently.
