We all have a parent, uncle or aunt who waits until the ambient temperatures inside the house are hot enough to cook a cake, before turning on the AC.

But recently Nathan gave his -hot- take (👏 thank you, thank you) on why you should be turning your system on earlier in the day.
When it comes to running an AC system – saving energy, and ultimately saving yourself some cash, is all about the load you put on your system. The harder you make your system work – the more it costs to run.

So turning your system on in the morning (before it’s scorching hot), allows your system to cool your home easily and then simply maintain that temperature throughout the day.

Turning your system on when your home is already an oven, kicks your system into overdrive for the better part of the day, which ends up costing more than it would running it normally from the morning.

Relatable hey? This summer has been a scorcher 🥵

In our recent pallet talk, Nathan gave a few tips to help maximise the use of your air conditioners this summer. Not only do these tips keep your house cooler, it’ll also help lower some energy costs.

For those that missed it 👇

1. Always set your air conditioner to 23º-24º. Anything lower will make the air conditioner work harder than it needs to and still cool the room at the same rate of setting the system to 24º.
2. Close all the blinds and doors on the west facing side of your home in the afternoon. This will eliminate any additional heat getting into your home, making it easier for your system to cool the space.
3. Ensure you have good quality insulation in your ceiling, lowering your roof temperature and simultaneously lowering the heat load within your home. A solar king ventilation fan could be a excellent solution to this issue.
4. Finally, this may come as a no brainer but ensure all windows and doors are closed when turning on your AC. You can even go that bit further and close internal doors to really maximise the use of your AC.
