🎉🍬🏗️ What a day at the Gordonvale Sugar Solstice Festival!

We packed the cranes, loaded the lollies, fuelled up and headed to Gordonvale ready for a great day with the community.

Leading the parade was our Franna crane, freshly decorated by Emma, who clearly has more talent with decorations than throwing merchandise. Some of those giveaways may still be travelling down the main street. 😂

The highlight of the day was definitely the lolly drop! 🍬 Percy suited up and headed skyward in the man cage while Corbin took the controls of the 60T crane. Looking out over thousands of smiling faces waiting for lollies to rain from the sky was something pretty special.

Days like today remind us that it’s about more than cranes. It’s about community, teamwork and creating memories. ❤️

A huge thank you to Grant, the Gordonvale Amateur Fishing Club and the entire Sugar Solstice team for having us. We loved being part of such a fantastic event.

To our crew, Percy, Lovely, Corbin and Emma, thank you. Events like this don’t happen without an amazing team behind them. 🙌

🚧🍬 If cranes could talk, ours would be asking for a day off after this week! 🍬🚧

When every crane is out working, the phone won't stop ringing, the schedule changes 17 times a day, and you've somehow survived another week in the crane industry... 😁🚧

No complaints here though!

There's no better feeling than seeing every crane in the yard out on hire, helping keep Far North Queensland moving. From Ellis Beach to the Gillies Range, Smithfield to Kurrimine Beach, and even squeezing in a Pilot Es**rt Vehicle job, it's been all systems go this week.

The best part? Despite the chaos, the crew keeps showing up, getting the job done, and still finding a reason to smile.

Tomorrow we swap hard hats for handfuls of lollies as we head to Gordonvale for the community parade and lolly drop. 🍭🚜

If you see us around, give us a wave. If you see Percy in the man cage, don't ask questions... it's payback for all the times he's sat in the air-conditioned office while the rest of us have been out in the FNQ heat. 😂🐻

🚧💛 Community supporting community, that's what it's all about. 💛🚧

Over the last few months, you may have spotted our Franna and 25T Slew Crane hard at work at Ellis Beach, with our operators and riggers helping keep the project moving safely and efficiently.

We absolutely love working with Mitchy and the team at RGE. They're a great bunch of people who genuinely support local, family owned businesses right here in Cairns. In an industry where relationships matter, it's always appreciated when companies choose to back local operators.

The last few days have certainly kept us on our toes! With one of our operators struck down by the dreaded man flu 🤧😆, we had to call in a favour from our sister company Pro-Lift. As always, they stepped up without hesitation, helping us ensure the project kept moving and our commitment to RGE wasn't interrupted.

That's the beauty of strong relationships and local partnerships. Whether it's Mitchy calling and needing a crane on site ASAP, or us needing a helping hand when the unexpected happens, everyone works together to get the job done.

A huge thank you to Mitchy and the entire RGE team for your ongoing support, and to the Pro-Lift crew for having our backs when we needed it most. We're proud to be part of the work happening at Ellis Beach and look forward to many more projects together.

🚨🍬 THIS IS THE WEEK WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! 🍬🚨

The countdown is on for the Gordonvale Sugar Solstice and the Gordonvale Amateur Fishing Club Lolly Drop this Saturday at 2:00pm!

We've got the big toys coming out to play, with our Franna and 25t Slew Crane ready to take to the skies. Add in a man cage full of lollies and you've got what can only be described as every kid's dream... and Percy’s favourite job of the year! 😂

Rumour has it Percy has been conducting rigorous "quality control testing" on the lolly supply all week. Unfortunately, the test results keep disappearing... one handful at a time. 🍬🤣

As Percy’s hat says, "It's not easy being cheesy"... and apparently it's not easy staying away from free lollies either! 🤣🧀🍬

We're pretty sure this is the only time you'll hear a crane operator say, "We're dropping the load!" and have hundreds of excited kids cheering underneath. The biggest challenge of the day might be keeping Percy out of the man cage and stopping him from catching more lollies than the kids! 😆

This event is something we genuinely love being part of. It's our small way of giving back to a community that has always supported us. Whether you've hired a crane from us, waved at our operators on site, or simply supported local businesses, this is our chance to say thank you. ❤️

So head down to the Gordonvale Sugar Solstice, enjoy all the festivities, and make sure you're there for the famous lolly drop. Bring the family, bring your lolly-catching skills, and get ready for some sweet chaos!

What a week it’s been at Cairns Crane Hire! 🚧😂

Wednesday saw the long awaited return of our Franna... and it didn’t even have time to settle back into the yard. It went straight from the float onto a job site! In fact, our operator was so keen to get going that he met Lenny at the bottom of the range and unloaded it there. No welcome home party, no time for a wash, straight back to work!

Thursday was just as busy, with the team smashing out three Franna jobs back to back. Safe to say the Franna is making up for lost time.

Meanwhile, Percy decided to swap his role at Pro-Lift Training FNQ for a day on the 25t slew's crane hook. Rumour has it he was just making sure everyone remembers what a real day's work looks like. We're still waiting for him to submit his timesheet and explain why every lift took 10 minutes longer because he stopped to have a chat and film some content for social media. 🤣

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one week, we also saw Brownie, a student at Pro-Lift Training FNQ, bravely shave his head in support of our August fundraiser. A huge effort from Brownie and a great reminder that it's all for a fantastic cause. 👏💙

Brownie might have been the first victim of the clippers this week, but something tells us he won't be the last... 😏✂️

Today was a pretty special day for us, our 20t Franna rolled back into the yard and is ready to get back to work.

Running a small business isn't always smooth sailing. When a machine goes down, it's more than just a breakdown; it's jobs delayed, customers impacted, and a lot of sleepless nights wondering how you're going to keep things moving.

That's why we're incredibly grateful to the team at HMBT Mareeba. You moved schedules, worked hard behind the scenes, and did everything you could to get us back up and running. The support you've shown us means more than words can express.

To Lenny and Nathan at Advanced Civil, thank you for always backing us. Even when you're under pressure yourselves, you've never hesitated to lend a hand, offer support, or help us find a solution. That kind of loyalty is something we never take for granted.

And to our mates at Century Cranes, thank you for stepping in and helping wherever you could. It's a reminder that this industry is built on relationships, trust, and people looking after one another.

Moments like this remind us that business isn't just about cranes and contracts. It's about community. It's about the people who answer the phone when things go wrong, the businesses that go out of their way to help, and the mates who have your back when you need it most.

✂️ Brownie’s Biggest Regret (So Far) 😂

Our sister company recently had the pleasure of training Brownie as one of their WP students. Everything was going smoothly until Brownie made the mistake of asking Bossman Percy one simple question:

"What's the go with the mullet?"

That was all Percy needed.

Within seconds, Brownie found himself trapped in a full sales pitch about Shave for a Cure, better known as the World's Greatest Shave. Before he knew it, Percy was explaining donation targets, mullet milestones, pink hair, perms, tutus, and the possibility of ending up completely bald.

Somewhere during Percy's passionate TED Talk on terrible hairstyles for a good cause, Brownie confidently declared:

"I'll shave my head if someone donates $100!"

Unfortunately for Brownie, we were listening.

So we made it happen.

We proudly donated the $100, and just like that, Brownie went from curious bystander to active participant in the World's Greatest Shave!

We're still not sure what was going through his head when he made the deal, but we can guarantee there won't be much hair going through it soon!

We can't wait to see Brownie's new look. Will he suit the bald head? Will he look tougher? Younger? Like a giant thumb? Only time will tell! 😂

And a special thank you to Brownie for teaching us all a valuable lesson: when Percy starts talking about his mullet, don't make bets involving your hair.

Our workhorse of the fleet the 20T Franna is currently getting some well-deserved TLC with the legends at HMBT Mareeba 🔧💪

While she’s off the road our 25T Slew Crane has stepped up as the new workhorse keeping projects moving and clients covered without missing a beat

Last week really said, “let’s keep things interesting.” 😅

With Percy and Lovely off enjoying some well earned holidays, Emma and Crystal grabbed the reins and kept the wheels turning. From running jobs to juggling phones, quotes, schedules, and everything in between, it was all hands on deck, and we’re pretty proud of what the team pulled together.

We hit the road back up to Ellis Beach with the 25t slew and the 20t Franna, soaked up some incredible views, and helped out Pro Lift by supplying operators for their rigging course. A slightly quieter week… or so we thought. 👀

Then Friday came.

Right before a booked job, the Franna suffered a tail shaft bearing failure and suddenly everything changed. In small business, moments like that can feel pretty heavy. You instantly start thinking about your clients, your crew, deadlines, and how you’re going to make it all work.

But this is where the industry showed its heart.

Without hesitation, the legends at Century Cranes stepped in to help us out, and because of that support, we were still able to deliver the job on time for our clients. 💪

That kind of support means more than people probably realise. In an industry where everyone is flat out and under pressure, having other businesses willing to lend a hand when things go wrong is something really special. It’s a reminder that behind all the steel, machinery, and hard hats are genuinely good people who look out for each other.

We’re incredibly grateful, not just for the help on the day, but for the community around us. These moments remind you why relationships matter and why teamwork will always be stronger than any setback.

Now the Franna is off getting some much needed TLC with the team at HMBT, while we reset, refuel, and get ready to tackle another week of lifts, laughs, challenges, and whatever else gets thrown our way. 🚧🏗️
