PROJECT UPDATE // China Camp Rd, Wujal Wujal

The scale of the work underway at China Camp Road is something you need to see to appreciate.

Our crews are continuing slope remediation works across multiple landslip locations, tackling steep terrain and challenging conditions to help restore and protect this important route through the Douglas Shire. From excavation and soil nailing through to drainage and stabilisation works, every stage requires careful planning and teamwork to deliver a safe and lasting outcome.

The photos capture not only the complexity of the project, but also the incredible part of Far North Queensland our teams are fortunate to work in every day.

THE HEH WORKSHOP TEAM ARE AT IT HARD! 🔧💪

There’s plenty happening in the HEH workshop this week, with the crew making sure our gear is serviced, repaired, presented well and ready to get back out to work.

🛠️ Corrie & Ben are into the 140M grader, replacing injectors and completing a valve set.

🚛 Phil & Jake have the job truck getting some serious attention, including front and rear engine oil seals, clutch and pressure plate, new shockies, A/C repairs and a few other jobs while they’re at it.

🎨 Abdel & Jarred are prepping the Komatsu panels for repainting as part of an overall machine tidy-up, with the Komatsu service techs also coming in for a hydraulic tune.

🚜 Our latest 8.5-tonne Hitachi excavator is in for its 1,000-hour service, hammer fitment and full workshop checklist.

We’re also lifting the standard on how our machines leave the workshop, with a thorough pre-work inspection and site-ready photos so there’s a clear record of the condition of our gear before it heads back into the field.

🐶 Reggie & Molly are just happy to be amongst the machinery, noise and dust.

🏴‍☠️ Jarred, AKA The Pirate, is still recovering from a big weekend on the sweet soft drinks. 😂

And keeping the whole show together is Julie, our workshop office superstar making sure everyone stays in line! She’s behind the reporting, pre-start checks, tracking, job cards, utilisation reports and most importantly, the homemade birthday cakes. 🎂

A lot happens behind the scenes to keep a civil construction business moving.
Great equipment starts with great people looking after it.

Jason is the recipient of our South East QLD Quarterly Award, and it's easy to see why.

Jason brings a great attitude to work every day and is always willing to help wherever he's needed. Whether it's supporting another crew, lending a hand on site, or helping different teams across the business, he consistently demonstrates what it means to be part of the HEH Civil team.

PROJECT COMPLETION // Intersection Upgrade, Bundaberg West

HEH Civil has completed construction at the Branyan Street and Crofton Street intersection for Bundaberg Regional Council.

Funded through the 2025–26 Australian Government Black Spot Program, the project delivered a new roundabout, raised pedestrian crossings and upgraded street lighting to improve intersection safety.

Thank you to our project team, subcontractors, local suppliers and the Bundaberg community for their support throughout the works.

Project Update // Noah Creek Bridge

A major milestone has been reached on the Noah Creek Bridge project, with the temporary bypass now complete and open to traffic.

With vehicles successfully transitioned onto the bypass, our team has commenced the next stage of works, including demolition of the existing bridge and construction of the new crossing.

The new bridge will replace an ageing structure that has been operating under a 16-tonne load limit, improving reliability and supporting long-term access for residents, visitors, freight operators and emergency services travelling north of the Daintree.

Working within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area presents unique challenges, and our team continues to work closely with stakeholders while maintaining strict environmental and erosion control measures throughout construction.

Recently, our SEQ team came together to celebrate the people who bring HEH Civil's values to life every day.

The HEH Civil SEQ Awards 2026 recognised employees who demonstrate teamwork, commitment, leadership and a willingness to support those around them. With award recipients voted for by their peers, the recognition made the occasion even more meaningful.

We also took a moment to remember Darren Jones, a valued member of our SEQ team whose positive attitude and contribution left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Darren was due to receive the Rising Star Award and will always be remembered as part of the HEH Civil family.

PROJECT COMPLETION // Peninsula Developmental Road Yarraden to Three Sisters (Part A), portion 1.

We’re pleased to share the successful completion of works on the Peninsula Developmental Road between Yarraden and Three Sisters.

This project, delivered in remote and challenging conditions with Transport and Main Roads Queensland, has transformed red dirt into sealed road, improving safety, reliability, and access for Cape York communities, and strengthening regional connectivity.

A heartfelt thank you to the local communities for their patience and support throughout the project. Your cooperation has been invaluable in helping us construct this important upgrade.

And to our dedicated team, contractors, and client, congratulations on a job well done. This achievement is a testament to strong partnerships and teamwork.

BuildCAIRNS – BLA Careers Expo 2026

We had a fantastic day at the BuildCAIRNS Careers Expo on 4 June.

HEH Civil loved connecting with so many students and showcasing careers in civil construction. From surveying demonstrations to our “Spot the Safety Hazard” activity, there was great energy and engagement all day.

A big thank you to for supplying the 8T excavator, a highlight for many students getting their first hands‑on experience.

Even better, we’ve already secured a work experience placement and had several students express interest in future opportunities with us.

Events like this play a key role in building the next generation of our workforce.
