When should you start planning your build?

Your build starts long before earthworks begin.

Design, pricing, engineering, approvals, finance and selections all need to happen before construction can start—and each stage takes time.

Our Build Planner is a general guide only, designed to help you understand the typical stages involved and work backwards from your preferred move-in timeframe. Every project is different, and actual timeframes can vary depending on the design, site conditions, approvals, finance and construction requirements.

While no builder can guarantee an exact handover date, starting early places you in a much stronger position and allows time for the decisions, approvals and preparation involved.

For Tailored Homes, the process begins with an on-site land consultation, followed by our in-house design process, detailed pricing and guided selections before construction begins.

Our Process

A well-considered floor plan doesn’t come together in one meeting.

At Tailored Homes Cairns, our in-house design process develops through a series of collaborative meetings, with each conversation adding another layer to the home.

Meeting one: We work through the initial floor plan, focusing on your lifestyle, priorities, budget, room placement and how the spaces should connect.

Meeting two: We explore the elevations, street appeal and roof structure, while refining the floor plan based on your feedback.

Meeting three: We step back and consider the home as a whole—including the pool location, exterior finishes, natural light, sun movement, prevailing breezes and how everything will function together.

This considered approach gives us time to test and refine the design before moving forward, creating a personalised home designed around your block, lifestyle and budget.

A new Tailored Home is taking shape in Yungaburra

From plans on paper to a home taking shape on site.
It was slab pour day for one of our new home builds in Yungaburra—an important milestone that makes the size, layout and footprint of the home visible for the first time.

Before the concrete was poured, this home had already progressed through the site consultation, tailored concept design, pricing, selections, detailed working drawings, engineering and approvals. Each stage helps ensure the home is considered before construction begins.

Now construction is underway, and our clients can begin to see the home we designed together taking shape on their block.

Custom designed and built by Tailored Homes, this four-bedroom home brings together space, functionality and everyday liveability.

Raking ceilings create a greater sense of openness through the main living area, while the layout includes two bathrooms, a separate media room, walk-in pantry, mudroom and an oversized garage designed to provide valuable extra storage and shed space.

Outside, the built-in BBQ area, large entertaining space and spa create a relaxed setting for family time and weekends with friends.
