Happy Arbor Day! 🌳

Let's branch out and celebrate the incredible power of trees!

Did you know that a single mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide each year? That's like taking a car off the road for two months! 😮

But here's the concerning part: we're losing forests at an alarming rate. Deforestation contributes to climate change, habitat loss, and soil erosion.

This Arbor Day, let's show our appreciation for these majestic giants:

Plant a tree: Contribute to a greener future.
Learn about trees: Discover the diverse species and their unique roles in our ecosystem.
Support conservation: Advocate for policies that protect our forests.

🦇 It's International Bat Appreciation Day! 🦇

These amazing creatures are vital to our ecosystems. Did you know that bats:

Are the only mammals that can truly fly?
Help pollinate plants and disperse seeds?
Can devour thousands of insects in a single night?

Talk about natural pest control!

Invasive species are an increasingly significant threat to our wetlands that are often underestimated. Because it’s so difficult to access swampy landscapes from the ground, it’s hard to study the movement and behaviour of invasive species, making them incredibly challenging to control and manage. Wildlife Drones is acutely aware of the damage invasive species are causing to sensitive wetland ecosystems around the world. That’s why we work with land managers to help build a robust picture of how the pests they’re trying to control move through the environment.

The coypu, nutria, are a large, semi-aquatic rodent that were introduced to North America. It is one of the most destructive invasive species damaging marshes throughout California and Louisiana, where they cause damage by burrowing into the banks of watercourses and feeding heavily on native plants.

Wildlife Drones is being used in research efforts focused on the Northern Bobwhite (Colinus virginianus) in the United States.

Our advanced drone-based telemetry system provides researchers with valuable data on bobwhite movement patterns, habitat utilisation, and population dynamics.

By enabling the simultaneous tracking of multiple individuals, our technology facilitates comprehensive studies that were previously unattainable through traditional methods. This enhanced data acquisition is crucial for developing informed conservation strategies to address the challenges facing this declining species.

Wetlands are a unique ecosystem that provide important habitat for many endangered species.

At around 5 feet tall and with a wingspan of more than 7 feet, the Whooping Crane is the tallest bird in North America. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most endangered. In the 1940s, there were only 21 Whooping Cranes left. Thanks to the efforts of conservation biologists the population has rebounded, but there are still less than 500 of these birds in the wild. Whooping Cranes depend on marshes for survival, where they nest and feed on a variety of small animals (like fish, crustaceans and small reptiles) and aquatic plants.
